Hansen Moves on to Round of 32

Gus Hansen
Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen is the next player to progress to tomorrow's round of 32 players. The final hand took place when Greg Brooks completed from the button and Hansen checked. The flop fell down {K-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}. Hansen threw out a bet of 3,000 and Brooks popped it up to 8,000. Hansen made the call.

The {5-Clubs} fell on the turn and it went check-check. The {8-Diamonds} came on the river and Hansen led out for 16,100. After some posturing, Brooks fired back, making it 53,300. Hansen then moved Brooks all in for his remaining roughly 28,000. It was at this point that the deliberation began.

Brooks sat thinking in silence for about five minutes. Finally Brooks said "I'm curious what you think I have". The deliberation continued for about two more minutes until Brooks stuck all of his chips in the middle.

Hansen turned over the {K-Spades}{8-Spades} for kings over eights, and a dejected Brooks slapped his {5-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} on the table for a lower full house.

Hansen, the victor of last year's WSOPE 10,000 Heads-Up Championship, is now continuing his head-to-head domination in 2011. If Hansen can continue taking command of five more matches, he will be able to add another heads-up bracelet to his name.
