How Many Treys in the Deck?

On a {4-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{3-Spades} flop, Cary Katz checked, and Joseph Elpayaa bet 8,000. Katz called, then bet 15,000 after the {k-Spades} on the turn. Elpayaa's turn to call. The river was the {2-Diamonds}, and Katz checked. Elpayaa bet a substantial 43,000, and Katz couldn't have called any faster. He turned up {9-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} for trip treys, a pretty strong heads up hand. Unless your opponent has {4-Clubs}{3-Hearts} and flopped a boat, of course. Elpayaa scooped the pot with the case three, but he felt his opponent's pain. "That would make me want to shoot myself," he said. He's up to 520,000 while Katz is down to 380,000.
