Evdakov, Van Alstyne Inching Upwards

Nikolay Evdakov and James Van Alstyne are both sitting behind respectable stacks while their opponents in recent hands, Patrik Antonius and Tim Phan, are both trending perilously downwards.

Antonius three-bet from the blinds pre-flop against Van Alstyne, then fired every street of a {7-Hearts} {9-Spades} {3-Spades} {10-Hearts} {5-Hearts} board. Van Alstyne called, and called, and called one last time with {a-Diamonds} {10-Spades}, a pair of tens. It was good enough to win the pot and give Van Alstyne 210,000 chips. Antonius is down to 71,000.

Evdakov made pocket aces work on a board of {3-Hearts} {8-Spades} {9-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} {2-Spades} against a hand that Phan mucked at showdown. It gave Evdakov 180,000 chips and dropped Phan to 65,000.
