D'ancona Scoops Monster Pot

A big pot has just gone down on table 68 amongst plenty of confusion and commotion.

We arrived after some preflop betting action to find John Hanson reraising another 40,900. Ben Grundy and Piergiorgio D'ancona both made the call, as Loren Klein called for the last of his chips.

The pot was already massive as the flop was spread {8-Clubs}{10-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}. D'ancona and Grundy both committed their last chips and Hanson decided to step aside.

Grundy: {J-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{5-Hearts}
D'ancona: {J-Clubs}{J-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}
Klien: {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{8-Spades}

Grundy had flopped the straight and held the lead, until the case {J-Diamonds} spiked on the turn. Suddenly the short-stacked Klien sprung to life as he made a broadway straight to take the lead.

However, the final twist on the river was the {4-Diamonds} to give D'ancona an unlikely victory with his running flush to scoop the pot. Hanson bemoaned folding what would have been the winning hand with the nut flush.

A disgruntled Klien hits the rail and D'ancona jumps to 160,000 while Grundy falls to 128,000.
