Four-Way Pot Gets Under Hellmuth's Skin; Goes Out Shortly Thereafter

We caught up with this hand on the draw. Nikolay Evdakov, Phil Hellmuth in the big blind, Scotty Nguyen and Howard Lederer were in the pot for 2,200 each. After just calling the raise, Evdakov stood pat on the draw.

"What?!" exclaimed Scotty Nguyen. "Looks like we need to go to Plan B!" Hellmuth and Nguyen each drew two; Lederer drew one. After the draw, Evdakov checked the action. Now the entire table was confused. Hellmuth took that as his opportunity to bet 4,000.

"Oh boy," said Nguyen, peeking at his cards. He gave it some thought and then mucked. Next action was to Lederer, who took a glance at Hellmuth's chips and then called. Evdakov also called.

"Ten-eight," said Hellmuth. Lederer mucked. Then Evdakov took a few seconds before turning over a 9-8. Hellmuth looked at Evdakov in disgust.

"Just say you have a nine," he snarled.

Nguyen interrupted. "I was right! I threw away a ten-nine."

Hellmuth ignored the interruption. "Come all the way from Europe to get slowrolled."

Someone nearby said, "You probably get slowrolled more than anyone else, Phil."

"Oh yeah," agreed Phil. "They're all such donkeys. They don't even understand."

Evdakov eliminated Hellmuth a few hands later when both stood pat before the draw. Hellmuth's 9-8 was just a bit worse than Evdakov's 9-7.

After being eliminated, Hellmuth walked over to Mike Matusow. "I'm getting sick of it," he complained. After a moment, he added, "But I'm fine."
