Cartwright on the Comeback Trail

Level 29 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

Lytle Allen opened to 175,000 from under the gun and Kyle Cartwright defended from the big blind. The flop fell {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} and Cartwright check-called a bet of 175,000 from Allen.

The turn was the {5-Clubs} and Cartwright checked it over again. Allen fired out another bet of 350,000 this time and Cartwright check-raised all in for 1,925,000. Allen gave it some thought for a minute but decided to let his hand go and Cartwright picked up the pot.

James Todd Osborne Eliminated in 5th Place ($36,857)

Level 29 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
James Todd Osborne
James Todd Osborne

James Todd Osborne was down to just 250,000 but managed to triple his stack just before the break with ace-king. Coming back from the break, Matthew Higgins raised to 175,000 on the button and Osborne shoved all in for 665,000 in the small blind. Kyle Cartwright folded his big blind and Higgins made the call.

Matthew Higgins: {k-Clubs}{7-Clubs}
James Todd Osborne: {k-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}

Osborne held a dominating lead heading to the flop but the dealer fanned the {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{7-Spades} across the table to give Higgins two pair. The {4-Diamonds} on the turn and the {5-Diamonds} on the river was of no help to Osborne who was eliminated in fifth place.

Kings Work for Cartwright this Time

Level 28 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

James Todd Osborne made it 180,000 on the button and Kyle Cartwright just called from the small blind. The flop fell {10-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} and Cartwright checked to Osborne who bet 230,000. Cartwright check-raised all in for 1,000,000 and Osborne went into the tank for a couple of minutes before making the call.

Kyle Cartwright: {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}
James Todd Osborne: {j-Hearts}{10-Spades}

Cartwright was in the lead with his pocket kings this time and the {8-Clubs} on the turn as well as the {5-Spades} on the river secured the double up for Cartwright.

Deuces Give Allen a Huge Double Up

Level 28 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

Picking up the action on the turn with the board reading {q-Hearts}{3-Spades}{2-Spades}{7-Diamonds}, Kyle Cartwright and Lytle Allen were heads-up in a pot. There was already upwards of around 700,000 in the middle and the two players got the rest of the chips in the middle on the turn.

Lytle Allen was the player all in and at risk for 3,190,000 but turned over the best hand with {2-Hearts}{2-Clubs} for a set of deuces. Cartwright tabled {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds} for an overpair but was unable to spike a two outer on the {4-Spades} river card. Allen was awarded a full double up and now sits with nearly half of the chips in play.

Scott Stewart
Scott Stewart

Scott Stewart was the shortest stack at the table and saw the blinds coming up in the next hand. Stewart jammed all in for 550,000 from under the gun and Kyle Cartwright just called from the cutoff. The rest of the table folded and the two hands were tabled.

Kyle Cartwright: {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}
Scott Stewart: {a-Spades}{9-Spades}

Cartwright was already in a dominant position and the flop of {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} put him even further ahead with two pair. The {k-Diamonds} on the turn gave Cartwright a full house and the {9-Clubs} on the river sealed the deal as Stewart was eliminated in sixth place.
