Adam Kipnis Unseats Alan Myerson in HORSE Tournament
PokerNews is in town to live report both the Main Event and High Roller here at the World Series of Poker Circuit Bicycle Casino, but those are just two of the gold ring events that will have played out by the end of the series.
In Event #4: $400 HORSE, 93 runners created a $30,690 prize pool that was paid out to the top 14 players. Among those to cash but fall short of making the final table was Kevin Aguirre (10th - $685), Scotter Clark (11th - $685), Daryl Nickerson (12th - $685), Javid Javani (13th - $640), and Harry Danielyan (14th - $640).
In the end, it was 42-year-old Adam Kipnis, a local mixed-game player, beating defending champ Alan Myerson in heads-up play to win the title for $9,185 and his first gold ring.
“Not at first because Alan is a very tough player,” Kipnis said when asked if he felt confident against Myerson. “I’ve played with him many times and I know how hard he can be at the table. We kept on battling back and forth and it was pretty much a stalemate throughout most of it.”
He continued: “I play all the mixed event, but H.O.R.S.E. is definitely my favorite. It’s the one I’ve always done well at. I like having change ups in games that I play and being able to take advantage of the fact that I’m pretty good at all of them across the board.”
