Alcorn and James Play a Funky One

Devin Limburg raised to 22,000 from the hijack, and Thomas Alcorn called in the cutoff. Robert James three-bet to 62,000 from the small blind, and only Alcorn called.

"I check," Alcorn said before the {q-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{k-Spades} flop could fall. He was out of turn, however, much to the amusement of the table. James checked, and Alcorn reached for chips, but the dealer stopped him, declaring his check out of turn binding.

"That's called an angle shoot, sir," James said to Alcorn.

Both players checked the {3-Spades} turn, and James checked the {7-Spades} river as well. Alcorn bet 75,000 and James quickly called.

"Oh...I honestly thought I had the flush," Alcorn said, tabling {a-Spades}{j-Hearts} as he did. James turned up his {k-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} for top pair and the winner.
