Clinkscales Doubles Again

Level 23 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Michael Assante raised the button to 25,000 and Rex Clinkscales shipped all in for 276,000 from the big blind. Assante sat pondering his action for about forty-five seconds before announcing a call.

Assante: {Q-Spades}{8-Diamonds}
Clinkscales: {k-Spades}{10-Clubs}

Clinkscales seized the lead on the {5-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} flop and never relented through the {5-Diamonds} turn and the {4-Hearts} river. Clinkscales was able to double to around 570,000 while Assante's stack has decreased to

Silberstein's Surge

Level 23 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Leonardo Palermo opened to 25,000 from early position only to have Tony Natale three-bet to 83,000 from the next seat over. Action folded to Ken Silberstein's button and he cut out a four-bet to 185,000. Palermo took his time and made what looked like an agonizing fold. Natale mucked behind and Silberstein picked up the pot.

Last year's runner up is now sitting on about 625,000 in chips.

Clinkscales Finds A Double

Level 23 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Despite what has happened over the course of the day so far, it seems that Michael Assante is actually not invincible. Rex Clinkscales got his last 232,000 all in before the flop and Assante called.

Clinkscales: {A-Hearts}{k-Hearts}
Assante: {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}

The two were racing for Clinkscales tournament life, but after a board of {Q-Spades}{5-Spades}{9-Hearts}{A-Spades}{9-Diamonds}, Clinkscales was able to seize the pot and stay alive. Clinkscales now has about 475,000 in chips while Assante has fallen to roughly 2.02 million.

Matthew Weber Eliminated in 12th Place ($9,208)

Level 23 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

The flop read {9-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} when Michael Assante led out for 50,000. Matthew Weber announced a raise to what looked like 142,000. Action was back on Assante and he bet enough to put Weber all in. Weber snapped him off and rolled over {K-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} for top pair and a flush draw. Assante showed {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs} and was ahead for the moment with his pair of aces.

The turn paired the board with the {9-Spades} and the river was the {K-Clubs}, giving Weber two pair of kings and jacks. Unfortunately for the WSOPC ring holder, the turn gave Assante a better two pair with aces and nines. Weber was sent packing with $9,208 in prize money. Assante on the other hand, now has 2.21 million in chips. For those of you keeping track at home, that's around 31% of the total chips in play.

Gotta Get Down on Friday

Level 22 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Kris Bradshaw shipped all in from the cutoff for his last 152,000 and Patrick Friday re-shipped all in over the top from the button. The rest of the table folded and the hands were shown.

Bradshaw: {K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}
Friday: {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}

Bradshaw fell into the unfortunate situation of shipping into pocket aces. He found a glimmer of hope by pairing up ont he {Q-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} flop but things began to look bleak when the {4-Diamonds} rolled off on fourth street. The table let out a collective gasp, however, when the {K-Clubs} struck the river, giving Bradshaw a winning two pair to crack Friday's pocket rockets.

Bradshaw is now around 320,000 while Friday has fallen to around 150,000.
