Gowder on the Game

Level 13 : 700/1,400, 200 ante

Keith Gowder was just all in with his short stack and at risk with {A-Diamonds}{4-Spades} versus an opponent's {10-Spades}{10-Hearts}. "I'm way behind," he'd said when the other player called, then after seeing the tens he added "at least I have an over."

Then came the flop... {5-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}! "That'll work," Gowder cracked, and after two more cards he'd doubled up.

"Crazy ass game," he said as he stacked the chips. Then, as if to prove the maxim once more, he found himself reraising over a Bill Dixon open on the very next hand, then Dixon called. Dixon had {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}, while Gowder had {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}.

The community cards came {4-Spades}{Q-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{2-Hearts}, and suddenly Gowder has gone from the brink of elimination to about an average stack. Meanwhile, Bill Dixon tumbles from the top spot though still has a healthy number of chips.
