Bobby Corcione Eliminated in 6th Place ($37,356)
It took multiple hands for Bobby Corcione's elimination in sixth place to come, with nearly all of his chips taken in a huge hand involving himself and Kevin Saul.
That hand began with an open-raise to 140,000 by Corcione from under the gun and a call from the big blind by Saul. The flop came , and Saul led with a bet of 155,000. Corcione responded by raising to 455,000, and after studying the situation for a short while Saul announced he was pushing all in over the top.
As Corcione contemplated what to do next, Saul's stack was counted and by eyeing Corcione's remaining chips. Saul said it appeared his opponent had him barely covered in the hand.
Finally Corcione did call, turning over . Meanwhile, Saul had for both straight and flush draws.
The turn was the , and Corcione's aces were still hanging on. But the river brought the and shouts from the onlooking crowd. Saul had made a flush, catapulting back up close to 3 million while Corcione was left with but 10,000 chips — i.e., one single ante.
Corcione managed to survive the next hand, sextupling up to 60,000. But he was soon all in again from the small blind with versus Cory Waaland's , and when the board ran out , the river five gave Waaland the hand.
One of our two remaining 21st-place WSOP Main Event finishers has been eliminated, with Corcione (who took 21st in 2012) now out and Snead (who finished 21st in 2008) still left. Just five players remain, with Saul now the chip leader.
