Get to Know Doug Paxton

Level 10 : 400/800, 100 ante

If you've played poker anywhere near Weatherford, Oklahoma, you've no doubt heard of Doug Paxton, who is playing in today's field. Paxton actually played on Day 1a and made until one in the morning before suffering a set-over-set beat that resulted in his elimination. Not to be deterred, Paxton is giving it another go.

If you're not familiar with the old timer, you probably should be. He has $317,695 in lifetime earnings, including a win in the $3,000 Oklahoma State Championship of Poker Main Event for $121,452 back in February 2006. Granted, that was a long time ago, but Paxton hasn't slowed down. In 2009, he won the $300 Seven Card Stud 8-or-Better Event at the Oklahoma State Championship of Poker for $3,770, and then followed that up a few months later with a fifth-place finish in a $500 No-Limit Hold'em event at the Venetian Deep Stack Extravaganza III in Las Vegas for $17,254.

More recently, Paxton finished 25th in the 2012 Chad Brown Poker Challenge $1,900 Main Event right here at Choctaw Casino back in April for $3,842. Paxton may be of an older generation, but he's proven time and again that he can make deep runs and even capture a title or two.
