Dave Fox Eliminated in 15th Place ($10,660)

Level 24 : 7,000/14,000, 2,000 ante

Dave Fox began today as one of four players of the final 19 with more than a million chips, but a series of unfortunate hands during the first one-hour level has ended his Main Event run in 15th place.

Fox's final hand began with a raise to 30,000 from under the gun. It folded to Hend Matthews on the button who called, and Gregory Masters called as well from the big blind.

The flop came monotone — {5-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{10-Hearts} — and Masters checked. Fox bet 60,000, and after pausing for about a half-minute Matthews pushed forward two columns of chips to raise to 260,000. Masters quickly folded, and when Fox announced he was reraising all in, Matthews called right away.

Fox tabled {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts} for the overpair plus a nut flush draw while Matthews showed she'd flopped the flush with {J-Hearts}{7-Hearts}. The turn was the {5-Spades} and river the {Q-Clubs}, and Fox is out.

"Whew... jack-seven," said Matthews afterwards as she was gathering the chips. "That was a pretty good flop for that hand," deadpanned Joseph McKeehen from across the table.

Speaking of McKeehen, that hand nudges Matthews up into second behind him.

McKeehen Cracks Two Million

Hend Matthews limped in early position, and action folded around to chip leader Joseph McKeehen on the button. He raised it up to 41,000, and he got calls from Sai Wang in the small blind, and Matthews as well.

The flop came down {k-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{9-Spades}, and Wang led right out with 90,000. Matthews gave her hand up, and McKeehen checked out how much Wang had left, then announced all in. Wang spent about 45 seconds in the tank before kicking his hand in, giving the pot to McKeehen.

After doubling up earlier, Wang is back down to around his starting stack for hte day with 300,000, while McKeehen is up over two million.

Hend Hanging In

"Raise and fold, raise and fold... the story of my life!"

So said Hend Matthews with a grin just now following a hand with Leo Walker. She'd opened with a raise to 40,000 from under the gun, Walker had reraised to 150,000 from a seat over, and the table folded back to her. She thought a bit, then let her hand go, showing {8-}{8-} as she did. Walker then showed her his cards — {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} — and collected the chips.

Matthews subsequently altered that pattern, however, raising a couple of times within the next orbit and watching everyone else fold instead of folding herself.

Jay Robinson Eliminated in 16th Place ($8,829)

We were busy catching Tom Dobrilovic's double when we saw that Jay Robinson was making his way to the payout desk. We went over to the table, and Tony Sinishtaj was kind enough to give us a breakdown of what happened.

Robert Panitch raised to 31,000 from under the gun, and Jay Robinson shoved his last 200,000 in. It folded to Thomas Sheets on the button, and he shoved all in for about 350,000 total. When it got back around to Panitch, he thought for a few moments before open folding pocket tens.

Robinson held {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}, but he was in dire straits, as Sheets held {a-}{a-}. Robinson actually flopped a diamond draw, but the board bricked out. After that hand, Sheets jumped up to 580,000.

With Robinson's eliminated, everyone left has locked up at least $10,000, or as Joseph McKeehen put it "We're all five-figuraires."

Dobrilovic Doubling, Fox Falling

It has been a rough first half-hour for Dave Fox. After Leo Walker doubled through him just now, another player — Tom Dobrilovic — has done so as well.

Dobrilovic had just doubled his short stack through Sai Wang, in fact, to push up to about 230,000. Then he was all in and at risk again with {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} versus Fox's {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}. The board went {8-Spades}{9-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{K-Clubs}, and Dobrilovic grabbed a chunk more from Fox.

Scott Cosagrande Eliminated in 17th Place ($8,829)

A short-stacked Scott Cosagrande open-raised all in for 120,000 from the cutoff seat, then Tony Sinishtaj reraised all in over the top from the button to chase the blinds.

Cosagrande: {J-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Sinishtaj: {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}

The flop came {6-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}, then the {8-Hearts} gave Sinishtaj a set but left Cosagrande with some flush outs. The river was the {K-Spades}, though, and Cosagrande is out.

Walker Doubles Through Fox

Following an early position raise from Dave Fox and a call from the big blind by Leo Walker, the pot was about 60,000 when the flop came {Q-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}. Walker responded by shoving all in for about 440,000, and Fox called the bet.

Walker turned over {A-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} for a flush draw while Fox had {K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} for a lesser flush draw and pair of queens. The {10-Clubs} turn meant Fox was still ahead, but the {A-Spades} binked on the river for Walker and he survives.

Gregory Burns Eliminated in 18th Place ($8,829)

Burns was crippled on the first hand of the day, but managed to double up on the first hand after the redraw, when his {q-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} caught up with the {q-Spades}{10-Diamonds} of Joseph McKeehen. However, he went out on the next hand.

Burns open shoved for his last 150,000, and action folded around to Hend Matthews in the big blind. She looked down at her cards, then grimaced a bit, but held on to her hand. She clearly had a close decision, and said "If I didn't see you shove with Queen deuce just now I probably wouldn't call". She stacked the calling chips together, and slid them in.

Matthews: {k-Clubs}{10-Spades}
Burns: {k-Diamonds}{7-Spades}

Burns was once again dominated, but this time, he didn't get so lucky. The board ran down {9-Hearts}{2-Spades}{3-Spades}{a-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}, and Matthews collected the bounty, upping her stack to 810,000. Meanwhile, Burns will have to settle for a payday just short of $9,000.

Joseph Steur Eliminated in 19th Place ($7,412)

On the very first hand of the day, the table folded around to Joseph Steur in the small blind. Down to just about a dozen big blinds, Steur was hoping to pick up a hand with which to push. He saw he'd been dealt {A-Clubs}{9-Hearts}, and did just that.

Unfortunately for him, Ido Ashkenazi looked down at his hand in the big blind and saw an ace as well… and another. He called and tabled his {A-Hearts}{A-Spades}, and when the community cards ran out {8-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{J-Spades} Steur was eliminated.

A brief pause here as the final 18 now redraw for the last two tables.
