Gentry Takes One Down

David Funkhauser opened the action with a raise from middle position to 42,000 and found calls from Joe Kuether in the small blind and Ryan Gentry in the big blind.

The flop was {a-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{7-Clubs} and all three players checked to see the {2-Spades} turn. Kuether checked once again before Gentry put in a bet worth 60,000. Funkhauser made the call while Kuether got out of the way.

The river was the {3-Spades} and this time Gentry led for 125,000. Funkhauser thought about it for a minute or two before tossing his cards to the dealer.

Deeb Is A Nice Guy

Freddy Deeb raised under the gun to 55,000, and action folded around to the small blind Chris Bratene, and he made the call. The flop came down {q-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{8-Hearts}, and Bratene took his time to decide. Eventually, he shoved all in for about 250,000, and Deeb thought for about 30 seconds before open folding {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}.

After the hand, David Funkhauser asked Deeb, "You didn't like the flop too much?". Deeb responded by saying, "I mean I just busted this guy I didn't want to bust another one!". The whole table got a laugh out of it, and Bratene thanked Deeb for his "compassion".

Ryan Buckholtz Eliminated in 9th Place ($10,444)

Ryan Buckholtz had moved all in just a few hands ago when his {a-Hearts}{3-Clubs} split with the {a-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} of Ryan Gentry.

Then Buckholtz moved all in again but this time was called by Freddy Deeb. His {k-Spades}{4-Clubs} had to catch up against the {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} of Deeb. However, when the flop came {a-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{a-Hearts} he was officially drawing dead and eliminated from the tournament.

Kuether Takes Some More

Stephen Plache raised from early position to 40,000 before Joe Kuether three-bet to 103,000 on the button. Both of the players in the blinds folded before Plache made the call.

The flop was {10-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}, Plache checked and Kuether continued for 125,000. Plache thought about his decision for a bit before letting go of his hand.

Kuether Takes One Off Of Deeb

Ty Spires came in for a raise to 45,000, and Freddy Deeb called in the small blind. Joe Kuether was in the big blind, and he counted out a reraise to 155,000, and put it in the middle. Spires folded, but Deeb came along. The flop came {j-Spades}{6-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}, and Deeb checked to Kuether, who put out a bet of 165,000. Deeb thought for about 30 seconds before folding, giving the pot to Kuether.

Spires Four-Bets

Cronin was trying to put his new found chips to work when he three-bet Ty Spires' raise to 96,000. Spires, however, didn't back down and put in a four-bet forcing Cronin off his hand.

WIth that pot, Spires takes a slight lead on Freddy Deeb for the chip lead.

Cronin Doubles

Action folded around to Chris Cronin in the small blind and he completed. Ryan Buckholtz was in the big blind and raised to 43,000. Cronin quickly moved all in and Buckholtz made the call.

Cronin: {a-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}
Buckholtz: {a-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}

The flop was {q-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} and Cronin picked up a flush draw. The turn was the {9-Clubs} which didn't effect Buckholtz's lead. However, the {5-Diamonds} did by giving Cronin the ace-high flush and Buckholtz became our new short stack.

This pot was especially important for Cronin because he needs to finish in 3rd place or better to take control of the points lead at the Rincon stop. While there is still one event going on and our current points leader, Jonas Mackoff, is still alive in the tournament, Cronin is eyeing that 3rd place spot.

Raymond Dandrea Eliminated in 10th Place($8,449)

Action folded to Raymond Dandrea in middle position, and he raised all in for his last 210,000. David Funkhauser folded, and Stephen Plache was next to act. Plache shoved over the top for 350,000 total, and everyone else folded .The cards were tabled, and Dandrea was in trouble.

Dandrea: {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}
Plache: {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}

The flop was no help to Dandrea, coming {3-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{7-Hearts}. He would still need one of the two remaining jacks in the deck to win, but the hand ended on the turn, when it came the {k-Diamonds}. The meaningless river was the {9-Diamonds}, and Plache collected the pot to get us to our official final table.
