The Rich Get Richer

Level 18 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Austin Buchanan was momentarily overtaken for the chip lead, but he has struck once again.

We picked up the action as Buchanan's table folded around to him on the button. He opened with a small raise to 9,000, and the big blind made a big three-bet to 34,000 total. Buchanan leaned across the rail to eye up his opponent's remaining stack, then called.

The flop came out {10-Diamonds} {6-Hearts} {7-Spades}, and the big blind announced an all in for about 65,000 total. Buchanan double-checked his cards and made a quiet call, turning up {A-Diamonds} {A-Spades}. The big blind was dead to runner-runner as he sheepishly tabled {A-Clubs} {K-Hearts}. "I'll take an eight or a nine," he said.

Turn: {2-Clubs}

That'll do it. The {9-Spades} river was irrelevant as Buchanan had already locked up the knockout. Stacking his opponent's chips, Buchanan has once again moved into the chip lead with 555,000.
