Smith Chips Up5:14 PM

With about 30,000 in the pot and the board reading {7-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}, both Cero Zuccarello and Justin Smith checked to see the {J-Spades} river card hit. Zuccarello check-called Smith’s bet of 27,200, mucking when Smith tabled {K-Spades}{K-Clubs}.

Smith: Up to roughly 175,000
Zuccarello: Down to about 30,000

Parker Shoves with a Shiny Head - 5:19 PM

On the flop of {Q-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{7-Spades}, Adam Levy checked to Brock Parker who was seated to his immediate left. Parker fired a bet of 12,000 and Levy made the call.

The turn card brought the {J-Hearts} to the board and Levy checked again. Parker fired bigger this time, betting 37,000. The bet put him all in and Levy tanked. Eventually, Levy gave it up and dropped back a tiny bit as Parker won the pot and moved up to 87,000.

"Your head's shining very nicely today, Brock," said Matt Stout as Parker was scooping the chips.

Vayo Takes Out Welch5:21 PM

The board read {Q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{7-Spades} and Ryan Welch got the remainder oh his stack into middle with {K-Spades}{10-Spades}, traling Gordon Vayo’s {Q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}. The river did not save Welch and he was eliminated. Vayo is up to about 240,000.

Julius and Kelly with a Small Battle - 5:22 PM

Michael Kelly and Ryan Julius got into a little battle and this time is was Julius who won the pot, although it was nothing compared to the one he lost to Kelly earlier.

On the board of {9-Hearts}{6-Spades}{4-Clubs}{3-Spades}, Julius called a bet of 6,000 from Kelly before the river card produced the {4-Hearts}. Kelly thought and then checked. Julius asked if the pot could be spread and then he bet 18,800. Kelly folded and Julius won the pot.

Paredes Dented5:26 PM

We just caught the tail end of the action, but here's what we know. There was a board of {8-Spades} {5-Spades} {9-Clubs} {J-Hearts} out on the table when we walked up, and a betting war left Mark Owens all in for 71,800. Big stack David Paredes knew he was in trouble when the chips went in, but he couldn't quite believe it.

“Queen-ten, really?!” he said indignantly. Sure enough, Owens tabled the {Q-Clubs} {10-Clubs}, and Paredes {Q-Spades} {9-Spades} was drawing dead to a chop. The river was a blank {3-Clubs} though, and Paredes' stack has been dented. Owens doubles up over 150,000, and the former chip leader takes a step back to a still-very-healthy 270,000.

Sands Three-Bets, Gu Four-Bets, Sands Five-Bets - 5:28 PM

From middle position, Frank Gu raised to 4,000. Dave "Doc" Sands reraised from the cutoff seat to 10,700. Action folded back to Gu and he four-bet to 24,000 after asking Sands to move his hands so that he could see his stack size. Sands then five-bet to 46,400. Gu folded fairly quickly after the five-bet and Sands won the pot.

Sands moved to 150,000 with that pot and Gu slipped back to 205,000.

Shorr Eroding - 5:30 PM

There was already more than 21,000 in the pot when we watched Ryan Austin and Shannon Shorr check through a {2-Hearts} {7-Clubs} {Q-Hearts} flop. On the {5-Spades} turn, Austin led out with a bet of 8,200, and Shorr didn't waste too much time making the call.

That brought them to the {6-Clubs} river, and Austin wasn't slowing down now. He made it 18,100 to see a showdown, and that sent Shorr deep into the tank. He cut out the calling chips from his stack and assessed the potential damage. The call represented close to half of his 42,200 chips, and it would take a couple long minutes before Shorr surrendered his cards, electing to save that remainder for a better spot.

Hinkle Eliminates Schulz - 5:35 PM

Blair Hinkle's stack just took another boost when he eliminated Kevin Schulz. Hinkle held the {6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} and Schulz the {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs} in this all-in-preflop situation. Schulz couldn't hit as the board ran out {7-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{2-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} and was sent to the rail. Hinkle increased to 272,000 in chips.

Zolotow Doubles Through Tamayo5:44 PM

A series of raises preflop led to Steve Zolotow getting his stack of 100,700 into the middle with {A-Spades}{A-Clubs} against Jonathan Tamayo’s {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}. The board ran out {J-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} as Zolotow’s ace-high flush took it down. He moved up to about 105,000 while Tamayo dropped to about 245,000.

Boosted Takes a Tumble - 5:46 PM

Apparently there's some history between Justin "BoostedJ" Smith and Shawn Busse, seated right next to each other over at the far table. A moment ago, we picked up a pot as they tangled in a preflop raising war that left Busse all in for 70,800. It was rockets for him, the {A-Spades} {A-Clubs}, and Smith was visibly frustrated as he rolled over his {A-Diamonds} {K-Diamonds}.

"The fourth reraise, and you have the aces," Smith lamented, trailing off and shaking his head.

There'd be no funny stuff on a board of {2-Hearts} {10-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} {K-Clubs} {6-Hearts}, and Busse finds a big double up. He's well over 150,000 now, while Smith drops back to 75,000, essentially trading stacks with his Busse in that exchange.

No Medic Needed For Adkison5:49 PM

Nenad Medic ran {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} into the pocket queens of David Adkison. A third queen fell on the flop and Medic would not recover, bringing his tournament to an end. Adkison upped his stack to about 180,000.

Parker Getting Pushy - 5:50 PM

From middle position, Brock Parker opened to 4,000, and he found one call from small blind Michael Kelly. The two men took a heads-up flop of {Q-Clubs} {5-Clubs} {8-Hearts}, and Kelly check-called a bet of 6,500. On the {K-Diamonds} turn, he took the betting lead, firing out 12,000 into the pot. Parker was having none of it, though, and he promptly raised to what looked like 65,000. Kelly spent some time in the tank, but he was unable to make the call, further reducing his once-mighty stack to 54,000.

Paker has about 140,000 now.

Table Talk - 5:51 PM

While a hand was playing out at his table, Matt Stout was having a quiet conversation with his neighbor (about smoking, naturally). The problem is that even Stout's quiet voice is deep and gravely, and it penetrates the quiet air in here.

"Your voice is so deep, I swear," said Adam Levy from across the table. "You and Steve O'Dwyer could easily be commentators for something. Like the movie preview guy."

Stout grinned back at Levy. "Steve Brecher said I should be on the radio." After a minute, he added, "I used to do the announcements for my middle school."

Vance Gone - 5:53 PM

Matthew Vance was all in preflop with the {J-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} against the {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} for Ryan Austin. The board ran out {A-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{2-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} and Vance hit the rail.

Sesso Doubles with Quads - 5:53 PM

David Sesso was all in from under the gun for 10,400. Jonathan Tamayo called from the big blind and the hands were turned up.

Sesso: {6-Clubs}{3-Clubs}
Tamayo: {J-Clubs}{9-Hearts}

The flop was all Sesso needed to get the double when it came down {3-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{3-Spades} to give him quads. The turn was the {4-Diamonds} and the river the {9-Clubs} to finish things off.

Kelly Doubles Through Crowe - 6:00 PM

Owen Crowe moved all in preflop and Michael Kelly made the call. Kelly was the one at risk and all in for 113,000. He had the {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} up against the {J-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} for Crowe.

The board ran out {K-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{7-Clubs}{9-Spades} and Crowe sent over the chips. He was knocked down to 20,000 with this crushing blow.

Peredes Doubles Through Hinkle to Take the Chip Lead6:10 PM

David Peredes raised from early position and Curt Kohlberg called from the hijack. Blair Hinkle put in a squeeze from the big blind and Peredes popped that. Kohlberg folded and Hinkle shoved for about 250,000 total. Peredes called with {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}, catching Hinkle making a move with {K-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}.

The flop came down {K-Hearts}{K-Spades}{2-Clubs} giving both trips, but Hinkle found no help from the {4-Clubs} turn or {8-Diamonds} river. Peredes shot up to just more than 500,000 while Hinkle plummeted to about 20,000.

Hinkle Eliminated, Barry Greenstein Too - 6:13 PM

Add two more casualties to the tail end of this level. We'll play out Level 15 before taking a dinner break.
