In a previous hand, Simon Steinberg had folded to the aggression of Heinrich Pauker and now shoved all in from the cutoff for less than seven big blinds. Nicolas Nicolopoulos made the call in the big blind with ? and Steinberg was looking for fives or kings with his ?.
The ?? flop left the Israeli drawing dead before the turn was an overkill, giving Nicolopoulos quads to add to the misery. The meaningless river was just a formality and the remaining 18 players are now drawn onto the final two tables.
After a four-way flop of ??, the action was checked to Eugenio Landi and he bet 50,000. Christian van der Haegen and Julien Brulet called whereas Kyne Elmouloua folded. On the turn and the river all three players checked and Brulet was first to show, mucking his cards. Landi showed the ? and van der Haegen had an equally strong hand in ? to chop the pot.
Stephen Woodhead open-shoved his short stack and Julien Duveai just flat-called in late position, no other player was willing to call though.
Woodhead: ?
Duveau: ?
It was all over after a flop of ?? and Woodhead already left his chair, waving good bye. The meaningless turn and river completed the board and the Brit is the second player to be knocked out early on Day 3.
Eugenio Landi was all in for 275,000 chips with ? and Mike Gerry looked him up with the ?. However, the big stack was not able to knock out the Italian on a board of ????.
Miroslav Alilovic raised to 43,000 and called the three-bet of Jean Marie Vandeborne, who had just arrived late, making it 102,000 to go. On the ?? flop, Alilovic check-raised all in and Vandeborne bet-folded after making a continuation bet of 100,000. It was 191,000 more to call.
The action folded to Mathieu Alciato on the button and he moved all in only to see Mike Gerry snap-call out of the big blinds. It was the ? for the Frenchman and the ? for Gerry. The board ran out ???? to give Gerry a flush and Alciato headed to the payout desk.
