Madsen None Too Happy

We picked up the action on a {2-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{8-Clubs} flop when 2006 World Series of Poker Player of the Year Jeff Madsen bet 9,000 from the small blind and Mike Watson called from the big. Some other players folded in between, and it was heads-up action to the {J-Clubs} turn.

Madsen took the opportunity to bet his remaining 21,800, and Watson thought for a few moments before making the call.

Madsen: {2-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{10-Spades}{3-Diamonds}
Watson: {q-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{9-Spades}

Madsen was ahead with two pair and the nut-flush draw, while Watson held just a pair of eights and an inferior flush draw. The dealer burned one last time and put out the {Q-Diamonds}, which improved Watson to a better two pair.

Madsen slammed down his cards in frustration and made a beeline toward the exit. Needless to say, he was none too happy.
