Sass Chips Up without Showdown

Level 14 : 0/0, 25,000 ante

After two limps, Gabe Patgorski raised to 225,000 with the {8-Hearts}{7-Clubs} and Phil Ivey called with the {J-Hearts}{J-Clubs} from one seat over. Jason Koon on the button called with the {K-Spades}{J-Spades} and Alan Sass came along with the {J-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}.

On the {Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{9-Spades} flop, Sass moved all in for 635,000 for half of the pot. Patgorski and Ivey folded quickly, while Koon asked for a count and also let go.

Multi-Way Pots Emerge

Level 14 : 0/0, 25,000 ante

Seven of the eight players limped in to see the {9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{6-Spades} flop and all players checked through. On the {Q-Hearts} turn, everyone checked through as well and the {Q-Spades} river gave chip leader Gabe Patgorski in the cutoff a full house with {Q-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}.

Action checked to Patgorski and his bet of 125,000 and all opponents folded, he flashed the six.

The next multi-way flop showed {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{9-Clubs} and Phil Ivey bet his {J-Spades}{7-Clubs} to claim the pot uncontested.

Leow Bluffs Rakhimov; Gives it to Cates

Level 14 : 0/0, 25,000 ante

Furkat Rakhimov limped in with the {A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} and Ivan Leow on the button checked with the {10-Spades}{7-Hearts}. On the {K-Spades}{J-Hearts}{9-Spades} flop, Rakhimov checked and called a bet of 75,000 by Leow.

The {6-Diamonds} appeared on the turn and Rakhimov checked, Leow checked back. After the {K-Clubs} river, Rakhimov checked once more and Leow bet 200,000 with the ten-seven high.

Three players limped to Leow in the cutoff and he bumped it up to 165,000 with the {J-Hearts}{10-Hearts}. Dan Cates called with the {A-Hearts}{J-Diamonds} and the duo headed to a flop of {Q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{8-Spades}, which Cates checked. Leow bet 210,000 into 550,000 and Cates called with the gutshot.

The {K-Diamonds} appeared on the turn to improve Cates to the nut straight and checked. Leow checked back to see the {K-Clubs} river and Cates gave it plenty of consideration before carefully cutting out a bet of 600,000. Leow folded and Cates claimed the pot with "weird hand."

Cates Doubles Through Yong

Level 13 : 0/0, 20,000 ante

Wai Kin Yong raised to 150,000 with the {10-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} and Dan "Jungleman" Cates three-bet all in for 1,570,000 with the {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}. Yong gave him a brief staredown and called.

The flop came {K-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{8-Spades} and Yong picked up a gutshot. The {K-Diamonds} turn was a bad card, and the {10-Spades} river was not sufficient to bust Cates, who jumped into second place instead.

Mikhail Smirnov Eliminated in 9th Place (HKD$473,000/$60,253)

Level 13 : 0/0, 20,000 ante
Mikhail Smirnov
Mikhail Smirnov

Over on the outer table, Jason Koon raised to 160,000 first to act and Gabe Patgorski called in the cutoff. Mikhail Smirnov moved all in for his last 650,000 on the button and Koon sighed "Gabe ruined my plan" before sending his cards into the muck, Patgorski called instantly.

Mikhail Smirnov: {J-Spades}{9-Clubs}
Gabe Patgorski: {Q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}

Patgorski shrugged "short deck" while Koon said "I had you both crushed." The board came {8-Spades}{6-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds} and Smirnov was eliminated in 9th place for HKD$473,000 (approximately $60,253).

All remaining eight players will now redraw to the unofficial eight-handed final table with a short break to come.

Rakhimov Doubles Through Sass

Level 13 : 0/0, 20,000 ante

Furkat Rakhimov moved all in for 1,150,000 with the {K-Hearts}{10-Hearts} and Alan Sass in the cutoff asked for a count, then moved all in over the top with the {A-Spades}{Q-Spades}.

The flop of {K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} improved Rakhimov, while the {6-Hearts} turn didn't change much. A blank {7-Clubs} river let Rakhimov double and Sass, who started the day as chip leader, was suddenly the short stack.
