Welcome to the 2019 The Star Sydney Champs $20,000 High Roller
The most expensive tournament of the 2019 The Star Sydney Championship awaits with the A$20,000 High Roller and the most well-known regulars of The Star Sydney are expected to join the action to determine the best among their peers.
Some of them have already secured their seat at a bargain through the A$1,100 Live Satellites such as David Wang, Michael O'Grady, Corey Kempson and 2018 A$5k Challenge winner John Thomson.
Defending champion of the event is New Zealand's Sosia Jiang, who emerged on top of a 28-entry strong field after defeating Matthew Wakeman in heads-up for a payday of A$266,000. Michel Bouskila ended up in third and also had a deep run during the 2019 series already when he finished 16th out of 356 entries in the 6-Max Event.
Jiang won't be attempting to defend her title this year, however, as she headed off to London for the Triton Poker festival to compete in the biggest buy-in of live poker history thus far.
All participants will receive 50,000 in chips and the late registration and re-entry period will be open for the first nine 45-minute levels and the following 30-minute break. The tournament features the popular big blind ante and Day 1 is scheduled to play a total of 15 levels of 45 minutes each, as of Day 2 the level duration then increases to 60 minutes.
