Day 1b to Get Underway Soon
Welcome back to lovely Aruba for Day 1b of the 2014 PPC Aruba World Championship. The $200,000 guaranteed $2,200 Main Event kicked off yesterday with an impressive 96 entries taking part in the action. After 12 levels of play, the field was cut to 35 and it was Steve Karp who emerged as the Day 1a chip leader when he bagged 152,700 in chips.
There were many notables who showed up for some poker fun in the sun yesterday and we expect those that failed to make it through to return today. Among those who fell short yesterday were Mark Kroon, Parry Shaw, Chris Bolek, John Ott, Marcia Kuntz, Wally Maddah, and Ronnie Bardah. In the meantime players like Joe Serock, Joe Ebanks, and Jesse Chinni all advanced with healthy stacks.
The tournament is a reentry event through the end of the dinner break (before the start of Level 7) so there is still plenty of time for players to get in the action, even if they get unlucky early on. Another 12 levels are scheduled for today and cards will be in the air at 4 p.m. local time. PokerNews will be here throughout the day to provide you all the coverage from the beautiful island of Aruba.
