Wyporowich Leads Day 1b of MSPT Black Hawk After Second Consecutive Hard Stop
The Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) Black Hawk $1,110 Main Event has a new chip leader after Day 1b, and it's Canada's Michael Wyporowich (556,000) leading the 25 that bagged from 216 entries when a hard stop was reached with 12% of the field remaining for the tournament's second consecutive day.
Wyporowich got through on his second bullet of the day, one he almost did not fire. However, he chose to get in, and he chose correctly, multiplying his stack multiple times in the final few hours of the evening. With what wound up to be around a full level remaining in the night, Wyporowich had a stack of just over 100K that he doubled once more, and was seen just moments later having increased that figure to over 350K. One last surge brought him over half a million, giving him both the end-of-day and overall chip lead among the 40 collective players that have advanced to Sunday so far.
Dapo Ajayi (475,000) finished the day second in chips, seeing relatively no resistance from his table all day long until ceding a double to Al Hart (214,000) on the final hand of the night. Jerry Morrell (382,000), Peter Nigh (370,000), and Craig Varnell (343,000) all finished with top-five stacks as well.
Others to bag included Ryan Hunsinger (342,000), Terence Reid (234,000), David Blankenship (214,000), Sarah Stefan (132,000), and Daniel Sepiol (122,000).
Meanwhile, players such as Will Givens, Vincent Moscati, Bryan Piccioli, Joe Serock, and DJ Buckley were among those that did not make it through day. One more flight remains, set to begin Saturday at noon with a full house expected as usual for weekends inside Bally's Black Hawk, and registration will open at 10 a.m. Thus, all who wish to enter are advised to register early to avoid having to wait as an alternate.
PokerNews will be back Saturday to bring you updates on the final flight from start to finish. Until then, take care.
