Welcome to The Mid-States Poker Tour Main Event at Riverside
The Mid-States Poker Tour has returned to Riverside Casino and Golf Resort in Riverside, Iowa for the third time this year. The $1,100 Main Event, which boasts a guarantee of $300,000, will have the first of three flights of this tournament kicking off today at 3:00 p.m. local time. This is an unlimited re-entry tournament, so players will have the option to buy in as many times as they see fit. If a player bags but wishes to play another flight, they will need to forfeit their stack to play.
The players will sit down with 25,000 in starting chips with blinds at 100/100 with a 100 big blind ante and levels going up every 40 minutes. After every three levels, there will be a 10-minute break. After Level 9 there will be a 40-minute dinner break, after which the players will come back, play an additional three levels until registration closes. After which, the players will play three more levels and then bag up for the day at the end of Level 15, or until 12% of the field remains, in which case there will be a hard stop.
Last time, it was Wisconsin native Craig Trost who outlasted a field of 979 to win his first Mid-States Poker Tour Main Event for a career best score of $180,145. Trost had to navigate a stacked final table that included the likes of Angela Jordison, CJ Peake, and John Dennehey. Trost is nearly certain to return to defend his title against a field that will no doubt be filled with crushers.
On top of Trost, other MSPT regulars expected to make appearances at this stop include, Sarah Stefan, Jamie Allen, Renato Spahiu, Michael Berk, Jason Crews, Wesley Cannon, as well as former champions Dan Sepiol and Timothy Gundrum.

The MSPT Player of The Year race has seen a shakeup that will no doubt raise eyebrows. Wisconsin��s Josh Reichard finished in third place last week at MSPT Deadwood, moving his name to the top of the leaderboard, above four-time champion Dan Bekavac(who is also an MSPT Riverside champion). Following them are CJ Peake, Miles Barnum, and John Dennehey. With a tight cluster at the top five, each one of these players could see a deep run in this event push them up to the top of the list. All of them are not only expected to appear, but be gunning full speed ahead for the title of MSPT Player of the Year, having only five events left before the end of the year.
