Kim Puts Afanasenka To the Test

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Sung Kim
Sung Kim

Sung Kim had opened under the gun and received calls from a player in middle position and Raman Afanasenka, who defended his big blind. The three saw a flop of {8-Hearts}{2-Spades}{j-Spades} and both Afanasenka and Kim checked. The middle-position player bet 2,500 and then both Afanasenka and Kim called.

Action continued three ways to the turn {4-Diamonds}, and Afanasenka checked again. Kim fired out a bet of 3,500 and got a fold from the player in middle position to bring action back onto Afanasenka, who called.

The river fell {j-Clubs} and Afanasenka led out, betting 11,000. Kim decided that wasn't enough, and jammed all in over the top to put Afanasenka to a decision for his remaining 50,000.

Afanasenka thought for a while and then folded, earning Kim the pot.
