Mader Loses a Small One, Then Wins a Small One
Hand #1: Phil Mader had opened from the cutoff and received calls from Lisa Thomas in the small blind and the player in the big blind. The flop fell and Thomas, first to act, led out for 3,000. The big blind folded and Mader put in chips to call after a few moments.
Action checked through the turn and river to take the hand to showdown.
Thomas tabled for top pair and Mader sent his cards to the muck, earning Thomas the pot.
Hand #2: On the following hand, Mader opened to 2,500 from the hijack and was called by the small blind. Action went heads up to the flop and saw both players check.
The turn came and the small blind put out a bet of 3,500. Mader grabbed two T5,000 chips and put them in for a raise, announcing what sounded like seven thousand. His opponent immediately flung his cards to the muck and Mader took down the pot.
