Wilson Folds at the Buzzer

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

We found James Wilson deep in the tank against an all-in shove from Chan Nguyen on a board of {4-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{7-Spades}{6-Clubs}. Nguyen's shove was for 184,000, which looked to be a bit more than pot-sized. Someone called the clock after a few minutes, and Wilson folded just before the end of the countdown.

Nguyen showed him {7-Hearts} before folding, saying he just wanted to take the large pot down. Wilson had {a-Spades}{6-Spades} for second pair and a gutter.

Johnson Flops Royal

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Timothy Johnson
Timothy Johnson

Timothy Johnson opened for 8,500 in middle position and was called by Mark Hodge on the button. The small blind jammed it in for 49,000, and Johnson called. Hodge looked pained but folded. Johnson turned over {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}.

"I was just squeezin' buddy," the small blind said. "I guess I'm glad you have that."

He showed {j-Hearts}{4-Hearts} for two live cards, but they went from live to totally dead after the {q-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{10-Clubs} flopped to give Johnson the royal flush, much to the amazement of his table.

Devin Stoll
Devin Stoll

Devin Stoll check-raised to 30,000 in the small blind after the big blind bet 10,000 on a {7-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{q-Spades} board. Stoll was called, and he fired 40,000 on the {8-Spades} river. The big blind called relatively quickly, and Stoll rolled over {4-Clubs}{4-Spades} for a boat.

Zarlenga Faces the Clock

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

We found Jason Zarlenga on the button, tanking against an all-in wager from Toby Boas. The board had come {j-Hearts}{10-Spades}{4-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{8-Spades}, and Boas had put Zarlenga to the test for his last 64,000 or so. The pot looked to contain well over 150,000 and the two-time Mid-States Poker Tour champ was deep in thought, cutting and recutting his chips.

"So gross," he said. "Ace-king of spades?"

Boas gave no answer, and a couple of minutes later Zarlenga's neighbor called the clock. With 15 seconds left in his countdown, Zarlenga mucked, telling Boas he let two queens go.

Wilson Turns Fiorenza Dead

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante
Toni Fiorenza lost a big race.
Toni Fiorenza lost a big race.

Toni Fiorenza opened for 9,000 on the button, and James Wilson made it 25,000 to go in the small blind. Fiorenza shoved all in after some thought, and Wilson snapped for about 110,000.

Wilson: {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}
Fiorenza: {a-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}

It was a race for about 70 big blinds, and Wilson held his lead on the {2-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} flop. The {10-Spades} turn was just what he needed to end the hand.
