Two Former MSPT Champions in the Field

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

Back in May, Jason Zarlenga topped a field of 411 entrants to win the 2014 MSPT FireKeepers Casino for $101,482. Zarlenga has made the trip over from Michigan and wasn't afraid to get his chips in early, though he did it with the {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}. Surprisingly, his opponent held the same hand with the {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}.

Chances were it was going to be a chopped pot, but if the sick beat Connor Drinan took in the 2014 Big One for One Drop taught us anything, it's that four flushes do happen. The {3-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{10-Clubs} flop gave Zarlenga a freeroll to running clubs, but it wasn't in the cards as the {2-Diamonds} appeared on the turn. The meaningless {10-Hearts} was put out on the river for good measure, and then Zarlenga and his opponent split the pot.

In other news, another MSPT champion is in the field today. Back in March, Jason Sell topped a record field of 393 players to win the MSPT Ho-Chunk Gaming Wisconsin Dells title and $97,539 first-place prize. Sell, who began the day with just 14 big blinds, scored his victory after defeating 2012 World Series of Poker National Championship runner-up Nik Stone in heads-up play. Sell is currently in action and sitting at the same table as WSOP bracelet winner Eric "basebaldy" Baldwin and car dealership owner Jon Green.
