The 14 players remaining have headed off on a 10-minute break with 17 levels now in the books.

The Bubble Boy is a Girl

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante
Alicia Pachla
Alicia Pachla

Alicia LaPorte Pachla just busted on the bubble getting the last of her increasingly short stack in with top pair on the flop.

Unfortunately for her, Michael Milewski had two pair and it held to send her packing 16th. Everybody officially gets paid from here on in.

The Short Stack Shuffle

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

The tournament staff has cut hand-for-hand short deciding to simply let the players play it out.

In the meantime, a few of the shorter stacks have managed to double up and stay alive.

First, Alex Visbisky shipped it in for 73,000 facing a Johhny Vegas open that Michael Milewski called. Vegas re-shoved, Milewski folded and Visbisky needed help with {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} against Vegas' queens. He got some with an ace on the flop.

A few hands later, Keith Macomber shoved his last 26,000 into Jerry Calvaneso's big blind and Calvaneso called without looking. Turned out he was way ahead with {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} versus Macomber's {q-Hearts}{10-Clubs}, but a ten on the turn brought the double for Macomber.

Hand-For-Hand

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Hand-For-Hand play continues at a snail's pace here with no one really wanting to be the official bubble, despite the fact the players have already pooled together some cash to pay the next person out.

Davis Kills Kenney

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Rob Davis got it all in pre-flop with {a-}{k-} versus John Kenney and his pocket jacks.

An ace on the turn gave Davis the checkmark, sent Kenney to the rail and started hand-for-hand play with the remaining 16 players now on the money bubble.
