Mathias Fades the World
Last week Kevin Mathias won the opening event of Western New York Poker Challenge for $6,514, and now he is just one player away from a cash in the Main Event. However, Mathias nearly walked away empty handed.
In a recent hand, action folded to Pete Kaemmerlen on the button and he raised to 13,000. After the small blind folded, Mathias moved all in from the big blind for 41,500, and since it wasn't too much more, Kaemmerlen called.

Kaemmerlen was drawing to live cards, and he actually picked up a flush draw on the flop. The turn gave Kaemmerlen even more outs to a straight, meaning any jack, four, ace, six or diamond would give him the win.
It was a lot of outs for Mathias to fade, but he did it when the harmless peeled off on the river.
