Break!

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

Players are on a 10-minute break while the T100-denomination chips are removed from play. We'll have updated chip counts after the break.

Book Takes Small Hit

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

Ray Book just lost a flip to Greg Illig but is still healthy with a stack of around 200,000. Book opened to 8,000 from early position and Illig shoved for 37,100. Book called with the {A-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} and couldn't outrun Illig's {7-Spades}{7-Hearts} when the board showed {10-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{5-Spades}{K-Hearts}{10-Spades}.

Nablo Rebuilding

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

Jason Nablo lost most of his stack during Level 13 and was down to his last 4,700 moments ago before finding an unlikely win to quadruple up.

Corey Regnier raised from early position and Nablo called all in. Rob Bourkney and Elleke Ven Heumen called from the blinds to see a flop of {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}. Action checked to Regnier and he bet 9,000. Bourkney check-raised to 24,000, Ven Heumen folded, and Regnier thought for a minute before releasing.

Nablo tabled {A-Clubs}{7-Spades} and was ahead of Bourkney's {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}. The rest of the board ran out {3-Clubs}{7-Clubs} and Nablo scooped the main pot while Bourkney took the side pot.

Guercio Doubles Through Rivera

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

Alex Rivera raised to 5,500 from early position and Sam Guercio shoved for 26,400 a few spots behind. Rivera snap-called and was surprised to see he was dominated.

Guercio: {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}
Rivera: {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}

The board ran out {10-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{Q-Spades} to ship the double to Guercio.

"I Made a Move"

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

Ian Tuason was the first elimination of the day. Tuason began Day 2 with around 15 big blinds and told us he shoved over the top of a few limpers with {Q-}{J-}. "I got called," he said with a smile as he made his way out of the poker room.

Welcome to Day 2 of the Seneca Niagara Summer Slam Event #5!

After six starting flights spanning three days at the Seneca Poker Room, we have reached Day 2 of the Seneca Niagara Summer Slam $50,000 Guaranteed Event. The $125 no-limit hold'em tournament attracted 765 entries, creating a prize pool of more than $71,000 which easily surpassed the $50K prize pool. Today's winner will go home with the trophy and $15,821.

A total of 149 entries advanced to Day 2 but four of those players bagged chips twice and are forced to surrender their shortest stack, leaving us with 145 when play begins today at noon ET. Lam Ngo took the chip lead in Flight A with 234,300 and nobody was able to catch him. Others taking big stacks into Day 2 are Jack Vaccarello, John Stempien, Paul McLean and Sonny Rattan, who doubled on the final hand Wednesday night to lead the Flight F field.

More than half of today's field will still go home empty-handed as only the top 72 places will be paid. With several short stacks going into the day we're expecting the action to move quickly in order to wrap this event up tonight.

Play will resume in Level 13 with the blinds at 1,200/2,400/300. We will be on the floor from start to finish today so follow this space for live updates from Event #5!
