Brazil Gets Another SCOOP Winner in Baumgarten

SCOOP 81-H: $530 NLHE [7-Max, Turbo, PKO, Sunday Cooldown] was one of the six tournaments that played out to their conclusion on Sunday. Thanks to the 582 entries, the $250,000 guarantee was obliterated, with $291,000 being the final tally.

Joao Mathias "joaoMathias" Baumgarten was the player to get the lion's share after being crowned the champion. His $23,274 in bounties and $21,897 prize ended up in a $45,171 payday.

Baumgarten became the latest Brazilian to become a SCOOP winner, continuing the takeover from the South American state in the online poker streets.

Can Anybody Stop Team Lex?

Not only is Veldhuis having a fantastic SCOOP campaign, but his stable of horses in the inaugural SCOOP league is cantering away from Team Spraggy, Tonka, and Fintan.

Four of the top five scoring players in the SCOOP league are on Team Lex. Patrick "pads1161" Leonard (1st - 1,410pts), who won his eighth SCOOP title last week, sits atop the point leaderboard.

"Fal1st" (2nd - 1,400pts) has been doing the heavy lifting for Team Spraggy while Denis "aDrENalin710" Strebkov (3rd - 1,220pts), Jerry "Perrymejsen" Odeen (4th - 1,060pts) and Veldhuis (5th - 965pts) are other main contributors to Team Lex's domination.

Lex Veldhuis

The $5,200 Titans is one of the flagship Sunday tournaments on PokerStars, and this SCOOP edition is no exception. As always, a plethora of high rollers turned up, with this week's instalment attracting 123 entries and generating a $615,000 prize pool.

From the field, just nine remain, and best placed to collect the $59,669 up top is Ukraine's Vlad "VladTheSlaye" Martynenko (3,893,326, 111BBs), who has more than double his closest rival in Vlad "dariepoker" Darie (1,718,113, 49BBs).

Veldhuis (1,442,927, 41BBs), the defending champion, rounds out the top three chip counts in his pursuit of back-to-back titles. Another player representing the Spadie brand is also in contention as Alejandro "[Papo]AR" Lococo sits in the middle of the pack with a stack of 30 big blinds.

Stars Turn Out in Force For the PLO High Roller

Ole Schemion
Ole Schemion

Sixty-six players turned out for SCOOP 71-H: $5,200 PLO 6-Max High Roller, creating a $330,000 prize pool that the top nine finishers shared. Joao "Naza114" Vieira was the unfortunate bubble boy busting in tenth. "dantegoyaF" and "bt155" crashed out, leaving seven players at the final table.

Serial SCOOP winner Denis "aDrENalin710" Strebkov fell in seventh before "ShipitFTW911" joined the list of busted players. Ole "wiziwizo" Schemion saw his tournament end in fifth place, with Dmitry "yurasov1990" Yurasov and Christopher "lissi stinkt" Frank falling away in fourth and third-place, respectively.

Heads-up pitted Benjamin "beastisngry" Juhasz against Sweden's "anonymstruts" in what was essentially a $30,000 heads-up battle. No deal was discussed despite the vast difference in payout, and that lack of a deal resulted in "anonymstruts" helping themselves to a $102,538 top prize, leaving Juhasz to collect $70,965.

"AchoBogdanov" Reels in $192,424 Score

Runner-Up Jakob Miegel
Runner-Up Jakob Miegel

SCOOP 65-H: $10,300 NLHE PKO Thursday Thrill wrapped up on May 18 when Bulgaria's "AchoBogdanov" was the last man standing from a 68-strong field. As you would expect from such a high buy-in event, the field and the final table read like a who's who of the online poker world.

Roman "RomeOpro" Romanovsky was the first finalist to fall, although the Ukrainian did take down the $109 edition of the Thursday Thrill for $55,353.

Such luminaries as Daniel "SmilleThHero" Smiljkovic, Alisson "heyalisson" Piekazewicz, and Sweden's "flerrehuve " navigated their way to the star-studded final table, but fell sort of raking in the title and the gargantuan top prize.

"flerrehuve"'s elimination left Jakob "Succeeed" Miegel heads-up against "AchoBogdanov."

Both players locked in $80,237 from the regular prize pool, leaving the massive bounties to play for. It was "AchoBogdanov" who came out on top, adding an incredible $112,187 worth of bounties to their total, meaning they took home $192,424. Miegel headed into the night with a runner-up finish and $106,018 in prize money.

Record Breaker: Benny Glaser Becomes SCOOP's All-Time Number One

Benny Glaser
Benny Glaser

Nobody would ever deny that Benny "RunGodlike" Glaser is one of the best all-round poker players of his generation, if not all-time. Glaser always shines during the PokerStars Spring Championship Of Online Poker (SCOOP), capturing ten titles btween 2016 and 2023. Now, Glaser is SCOOP's all-time leader regarding titles won because he bagged the 11th SCOOP title of his illustrious career on May 18.

Glaser was one of 2,679 entrants in SCOOP 75-L: $55 NLHE Turbo, a tournament with a $133,950 prize pool. Although Glaser is best known for his mixed game prowess, his No-Limit Hold'em game is also razor sharp, evidenced by his battling his way through this huge crowd and helping himself to the $19,590 top prize.

The British superstar defeated Brazilian "tenentelima" heads-up to get his hands on his record-breaking 11th SCOOP title, pushing him one win above legendary figures Calvin "cal42688" Anderson and Andre "Premove" Skvortsov.

Glaser's SCOOP Titles

Glaser won his first SCOOP title in 2016, coming out on top in the $2,100 Stud Hi-Lo event. He drew a rare blank in 2017 before capturing another SCOOP title in 2018, and has won at least one SCOOP event every year since, including three in 2023.

This will not be Glaser's last SCOOP win, and it probably won't be his last in the 2024 SCOOP, either.
