Yago "yhsimplicio" Simplicio Among the Top Stacks as 210 Players Survived Day 1
Day 1 of the PokerStars 2021 Spring Championship of Online Poker -33-M: $530 NLHE [8-Max, Sunday Million SE] has wrapped up for the night after eight hours and 25 minutes of play. The $1,250,000 guarantee was reached in the early stages of the tournament and the $2,109,000 prize pool became official after 4,218 total entries (3,033 entries and 1,185 re-entries) were logged.
Once registration had ended, there were plenty of players remaining and each knew they needed to make it into the top 591 to receive a piece of the prize pool.
Many notable players showed up to take a shot with many failing to find the run good needed which included PokerStars Ambassador's Sam "SamSquid" Grafton, Lex "L. Veldhuis" Veldhuis, Parker "tonkaaaa" Talbot, Tom "MajinBoob" Hayward, and Fintan "EasyWithAces" Hand.
The virtual bodies continued to fall and in Level 21 "Gselweckle" bubbled the tournament leaving the remaining 591 players in the money.
From there, many familiar names were still remaining and they started to started to drop rapidly from the field as Scott "Aggro Santos" Margereson (489th - $1,264), Adrian "Amadi_017" Mateos (398th - 1,398), PokerStars Ambassador Ramon "RamonColillas" Colillas (286th place - $1,710), and Viktor "papan9_p$" Ustimov (243rd place - $1,710) all got a piece of the prize pool but fell short of a Day 2 birth.
Play continued until only 210 players remained, and leading the way is brunilsks (4,236,786) who is only player to eclipsed the four-milly mark. Rounding out the top five stacks include "NevilleWeeee" (2,904,608), Yago "yhsimplicio" Simplicio (2,766949), Skint Paddy (2,663,924) and "castelinoo" (2,394,341).
Other top stacks include Tomasz "Sphinx87" Cybulski (2,194,958), Dennys "dennysramos2" Ramos (2,096,480), Vlad "VladTheSlaye" Martynenko (2,035,868), and Fedor "CrownUpGuy" Holz (1,507,158).
Day 2 will start Monday, April 12, at 5:05 p.m. UTC and will play down until only eight players remain.
Action will pick up in Level 26 with blinds remaining at 20 minutes. Players will continue to get five-minute breaks at 55 minutes past every hour. Once the final eight players are reached they will bag up and return for Day 3 action Tuesday, April 13, at 1.05 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST).
