The first day of the PokerStars SCOOP-02-M: $215 Mini Thursday Thrill tournament has come to an end after 8.5 hours of play. The tournament had a guaranteed prize pool set of $750,000 but that was easily crushed by the 5,840 players this freezeout tournament attracted which featured a progressive knock-out format. A total prize pool of $1,168,000 has been created. At the end of the day, 198 players have made it through to Day 2 which will start at 1 p.m. Eastern Time on Monday, May 1.

The winner will walk away with at least $70,623 plus the bounty of the runner-up and their own. Dutchman Pimmss will have gone to bed with dreams of winning another title at PokerStars after having won several tournaments already with the most recent notable ones being two High Rollers during the High Rollers tournament series last December. He claimed the lead with 5,106,864 in chips. Trailing him in the chip counts are giumas987 with 5,036,939 and OK1OK2 with 4,942,710.

With 198 players, there are still many relative unknown players but there are still some familiar names that are known to the online and live poker world left. Players like Caio "pessagno" Pessagno, Mateusz "KeyserMM" Moolhuizen, Josip "Jozinho6" Simunic, Jorryt "TheCleaner11" van Hoof, and Pascal "P?ffchen" Hartmann for example are all still in the running.

There were five PokerStars Pros registered to the tournament but they all failed to find a spot for Day 2. Lex LexVeldhuis Veldhuis lost all his chips when he decided to limp-shove with ace-king and was looked up by oRezidenTo who held pocket queens. The turn brought a straight to Veldhuis opponent to send the Twitch Streamer to the rail in 1,806th place.

adkaf burst the bubble when he took out Otter8759. The latter had gotten short towards the bubble and was all-in preflop with a chance to quintuple up but after some bets and shoves, he was heads-up against the former who held a full house. The pocket queens of Otter8759 couldnt beat that and the rest of the field was in the money.

All returning players are already guaranteed at least $401.79 and have collected a part of that already when the day ended ($181.69). Play ended at Level 27 which had a small blind of 15,000, big blind of 30,000, and a running ante of 3,750. The players will continue playing until a winner has been found and PokerNews will be there from start till end for all the action so make sure to return!
