Petree Rises Climbs High In Quest For Second Title
The final flight of The RunGood Poker Series Poker Series Checkpoint $600 Main Event at Downstream Resort and Casino outside of Joplin, Missouri has concluded. A total of 196 entrants came out to play the final flight, which saw 24 survivors as the dust settled. The total number of entrants has tallied up to 683 players, creating a prize pool of $355,160 for the surviving 82 players to play for.
Climbing to the top of the final flight is Pete Petree, who burst the short bubble and bagged up a total of 710,000. The RGPS Tulsa champion held a middling stack when registration closed but as the night ticked on, the pots he dragged in grew exponentially until he was covering the whole field by over 200,000. With this massive stack, his quest to chase a third ring and second Main Event title will begin tomorrow at noon.
Along with him came many notable players including the other player that burst the bubble, Clarence Prevost (514,000), Kasey Stanford (355,000), Rodney Spriggs (223,000), Trent Wilson (196,000), Joey Gargiulo (145,000), and last year��s runner up Dustin Hill (126,000).

Unfortunately for some, their dreams of taking home The RunGood Poker Series Joplin have come to an end. Players like Daniel Lowery, Daniel ��Donk�� Hughes, Preston McEwen, William McCracken, and the unfortunate bubble boy Donald Forshey, will have to look to the upcoming Council Bluffs series to win a RGPS Main Event. Title defense for Scott Brandau also came to an end in this flight as the defending champion was unable to survive to the end of the day, leaving the title open for somebody new.
The earliest flight ended in level 15 with 10:02 left on the clock and blinds at 8,000/16,000 and a 16,000 ante. 82 players will be returning tomorrow to play and the day will not finish until a new champion has been crowned.
