Demond Williams Eliminated in 4th Place ($16,162)

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
Demond Williams
Demond Williams

Demond Williams opened to 100,000 from the button and was three-bet by Martin Ruemenapp in the small blind to a half-million. Williams went over the top for his remaining chips and Ruemenapp called, saying he had queens.

"Queens?" asked Williams, making sure he had heard correctly. "You've got one better," he added, residing to his potential pending fate.

Demond Williams: {j-Diamonds}{j-Spades}
Martin Ruemenapp: {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}

Williams was unable to hit a jack on the runout {k-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}, resulting in his hand remaining second-best as he was congratulated on a great run and mutual respect from the rest of the table on his way out.

Jones "Clicks It Back"

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Mykel Comroe raised to 100,000 from the cutoff and got calls from Martin Ruemenapp in the small blind and Dennis Jones in the big blind.

The three saw a flop of {6-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{5-Hearts} and Ruemenapp led out for 150,000. Dennis Jones "clicked it back," putting in a raise to the minimum required amount of 300,000. Comroe folded.

"Why'd you have to get him out of there?" chided Ruemenapp. "We could have gotten him to call," he continued joking. Then he got serious.

"Respect," said Ruemenapp as he folded to the raise, resulting in Jones taking down the pot.

Michael Sanders Eliminated in 5th Place ($12,176)

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
Michael Sanders
Michael Sanders

Mykel Comroe opened to 100,000 from the cutoff and was three-bet all in for around 440,000 by Michael Sanders, who was in the small blind. Action made its way back to Comroe and he confirmed the amount before announcing a call.

Michael Sanders: {a-Spades}{8-Hearts}
Mykel Comroe: {a-Hearts}{9-Hearts}

Sanders was in need of help to stay alive, but it would be Comroe to improve as the flop came {5-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{2-Hearts} to give him the nut flush. Sanders stood up, remarking to Tiffany Keathley on the rail about not having much of a sweat as the turn {3-Hearts} fell, giving him one out at a chop. It did not come, however, as the river came {9-Diamonds} to confirm his departure from the tournament and take the number remaining down to four.

Ruemenapp Takes the Chip Lead

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Martin Ruemenapp was in the small blind and defended a hijack open from Mykel Comroe to take action heads up to a flop of {4-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}. Ruemenapp checked and called a continuation-bet of 100,000 from Comroe.

Both players then checked the turn {q-Hearts} to bring the river {a-Hearts}. Ruemenapp made a bet of 250,000.

"You miss?" Comroe asked after a few seconds of thought. Ruemenapp sat motionlessly, letting Comroe go through his own thought process. Eventually, he sent his cards to the muck and Ruemenapp took down the pot, earning the chip lead to go along with it.

Players are on a 15-minute break: as time was expiring in the level, Demond Williams opened to 105,000 from the hijack and action folded around to Mykel Comroe, who was in the big blind. Comroe looked over at Williams' stack and Williams picked up his hands to show how much he had left.

"I'm all in," said Comroe.

"Call," responded Williams immediately.

Demond Williams: {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}
Mykel Comroe: {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}

Williams was on the plus-end of a coin flip prior to the runout, which came {q-Clubs}{3-Spades}{4-Clubs}{4-Spades}{4-Hearts} to give him a full house and lock up the double.

Official chip counts for the five remaining players have been provided.

Big-Slick Good for Ruemenapp

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Michael Sanders saw action folded to him in the small blind and completed. Martin Ruemenapp then raised his option from the big blind to 90,000 and Sanders called.

Both players checked the flop {j-Clubs}{10-Spades}{3-Hearts} and the turn came {7-Diamonds}. Sanders fired 130,000 forward and Ruemenapp thought for a few moments. He put out a call. The river fell {5-Spades} and both players checked to take the hand to showdown.

Ruemenapp tabled {a-Spades}{k-Spades} upon checking behind and Sanders mucked, unable to beat it as the pot was sent Ruemenapp's way.

Mark Burford Eliminated in 6th Place ($9,329)

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Mark Burford
Mark Burford

Mark Burford was in the small blind and saw action folded to him. He pumped it up to 90,000 and was three-bet to 300,000 by Martin Ruemenapp in the big blind. Burford piled in his remaining 450,000 or so and Ruemenapp called to put Burford at risk for his tournament life.

Mark Burford: {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Martin Ruemenapp: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}

The flop came {3-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} and was not much help to Burford. The turn {q-Diamonds} did give him a backdoor Broadway draw, but the river {8-Clubs} fell short of his needs and sent him to the payout desk in sixth place, taking home $9,329 for a weekend's worth of poker.
