Tesfalidet Spikes Eight to Stay Alive

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

It was folded to Mesgana Tesfalidet in the small blind and she open-shoved for 116,000. Jason Brin was in the big blind and made the quick call after looking at his cards.

Tesfalidet had {A-Hearts}{8-Spades} and was in danger of being eliminated as Brin had {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}. The flop changed that though as it came {10-Spades}{8-Clubs}{4-Clubs}. Brin stood up, knowing he was in danger of losing the majority of his stack.

The turn was the {3-Spades} and the river was the {7-Clubs} and Tesfalidet doubled up to 235,000 while Brin dropped to 31,500.

"Two days and that happens," muttered Brin under his breath.

Mitts Gets Unlucky

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Joshua Mitts opened the action pre-flop and was called by Jesse Brown. The flop came {Q-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{5-Hearts} and the chips started flying with Mitts betting and then moving all in over the top of Brown's raise. Brown made the call and was behind with his {K-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds} as Mitts had {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}.

The turn changed that though as it was the {K-Diamonds} to give Brown top two pair. Mitts still had some hope as any ace, seven, or five would give him the winning hand.

The river was not one of those cards, however, as it was the {J-Clubs} and a frustrated Mitts slammed his hand down on the table.

"Played it perfect," said one of the players at the table as Mitts left the room.

Keck Gets Ladies at the Wrong Time

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Donald Keck had to be feeling good when he looked down at {Q-}{Q-} and with a short stack it was an easy all in. Unfortunately for him, Jim Sybrant woke up with {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds} and when the board ran out {9-Hearts}{9-Spades}{9-Clubs}{6-Spades}{6-Diamonds} Keck would be eliminated just a few spots short of the money. There are now 40 players remaining - four more eliminations to the money. They will go hand-for-hand when there are 37 left.

The Worst Hand Wins...

Level 14 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Mike Rieck opened for 14,000 and Terry Karn moved all in for approximately 50,000. It was folded to the big stack of Darren Attebery who moved all in as well. The action got back to Rieck who shrugged his shoulders and said "I'm all in too" as he turned over {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}. Karn tabled {Q-Hearts}{Q-Spades} and Attebery flipped over the worst hand of the three with his {9-Hearts}{9-Spades}.

The first card in the window was the {9-Diamonds} and the other two cards were the {J-Spades}{6-Spades}. "Nine in the window," sighed Rieck.

"Yea, come on," said an excited Attebery.

The river was the {9-Clubs} to give Attebery quad nines and the double knock out. A gracious Karn went over and shook Attebery's hand and Rieck simply smiled at his misfortune.

That's What She Said...

Level 14 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Mark Martin opened for 14,000 and Michael Kennedy moved all in for 58,500 total. After thinking for a moment, Martin made the call and turned over {A-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}. Kennedy stood up and turned over his hand {A-Spades}{K-Spades} and yelled "keep 'em black and big!"

Andre Allen, smiled, and without hesitation said "that's what she said" and the table laughed as the dealer put out the flop of {Q-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}. Kennedy would double up when the turn and river of {7-Spades}{Q-Hearts} didn't improve Martin's hand.

Sadly, Allen would be eliminated the next hand in unseen action but at least he brought a moment of laughter to his table before departing.

Gilmore Hits Miracle King to Win Huge Pot

Level 14 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

We got to the table with Jeremy Gilmore all in for his last 60,000 and approximately 75,000 already in the pot on a board of {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}. Terry Karn called, leaving himself with 54,500 behind. Duy Nguyen asked how much Karn had behind and once he found out the amount he reraised all in himself.

Karn thought for a while before deciding to let his hand go, saying he had {A-}{J-}. Nguyen turned over {9-}{8-} for trip nines and Gilmore tabled {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}. The river was a miracle king for Gilmore, the {K-Hearts}, and a disgusted Nguyen shook his head in disbelief, looking repeatedly at the table as if he couldn't believe what he had just witnessed. That hand moved Gilmore to 250,000.

Nguyen was left with 110,000 and would be eliminated a few hands later in unseen action.
