Earlier this year, the PokerStars Blog included Fabiano “Kovalski1” Kovalski among a list of Brazilian players to watch, a notable from the from the LAPT, the BSOP, and other PokerStars tours including an 11th place finish in the EPT Barcelona Main Event.

Of course, you couldn’t have missed Kovalski at the final table of Event #59-H, the $5,200 buy-in Midweek Freeze where he had the chip lead pretty much the entire way to win his third WCOOP title and a $119,483.15 first prize.

James Hartigan and Joe Stapleton caught up with Kovalski after his win and talked about his dream run in the WCOOP.

In the final hand before switching to PLO, "RaúlGonzalez" raised to 100,000 and Stephen "stevie444" Chidwick called. Chidwick check-called 75,000 on the {k-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{5-Hearts} flop.

The turn was the {q-Hearts} and Chidwick checked. "RaúlGonzalez" bet 181,250, Chidwick check-raised to 575,000, and "RaúlGonzalez" called.

No-Limit Hold'em

Stephen "stevie444" Chidwick raised to 100,000 and "RaúlGonzalez" called. The flop was {7-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{k-Spades} and "RaúlGonzalez" checked. Chidwick bet 148,750, "RaúlGonzalez" check-raised to 425,000, Chidwick pushed for 1,921,093, and "RaúlGonzalez" called.

Stephen "stevie444" Chidwick: {10-Diamonds}{7-Spades}
"RaúlGonzalez": {k-Clubs}{5-Clubs}

Chidwick had flopped bottom two pair but "RaúlGonzalez"'s top pair had plenty of equity to win the tournament on the spot. To do so, he needed to improve but he bricked the {3-Spades} turn and {j-Hearts} river to see Chidwick double into the lead.

Joao "Naza114" Vieira Eliminated in 3rd Place ($103,325)

Level 55 : 25,000/50,000, 6,250 ante
Joao Vieira
Joao Vieira

No-Limit Hold'em

An orbit before, Joao "Naza114" Vieira got his short stack all in with {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts} against Stephen "stevie444" Chidwick's {q-Hearts}{10-Spades}, but two tens and two sixes provided a chop in the hand.

Then, in what would turn out to be Vieira's final hand, it was Chidwick who open-shoved from the small blind and Vieira who called all in for 373,161 total.

Joao "Naza114" Vieira: {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Stephen "stevie444" Chidwick: {k-Spades}{j-Diamonds}

Vieira was all in and behind and the {q-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{10-Spades}{a-Spades}{j-Hearts} board failed to provide any help to leave the tournament heads-up.

"RaúlGonzalez" Opens Up a Wide Gap

Level 54

Stud Hi-Lo

"RaúlGonzalez": {8-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} / {10-Hearts}{q-Spades}{2-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} / {10-Spades}
Joao "Naza114" Vieira: {x-}{x-} / {q-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{4-Spades} / {x-}

"RaúlGonzalez" was the bring-in. Joao "Naza114" Vieira completed, "RaúlGonzalez" raised, Vieira made it three bets and "RaúlGonzalez" called.

"RaúlGonzalez" check-called fourth, fifth, and sixth street before leading out on the river. Vieira called the final bet.

"RaúlGonzalez" showed three tens for high and Vieira couldn't beat that, nor show a qualifying low to see "RaúlGonzalez" scoop the pot.
