Rui “RuiNF” Ferreira on his Player of the Year SCOOP Performance

Level 41 : 350,000/700,000, 87,500 ante
Rui Ferreira
Rui "RuiNF" Ferreira; SCOOP 2020 Player of the Year

Throughout the Spring Championship of Online Poker 2020, one particular screen name cropped up more than most on the daily results sheet. That name? “RuiNF”. The player? Portugal’s Rui Ferreira.

While he couldn’t quite clinch a SCOOP title in 2020, Ferreira had so many close calls (nine final tables) and cashes (more than 100!) that he would ultimately be crowned the SCOOP 2020 Player of the Year.

In doing so, he banked a beautiful bonus of $50,000.

The Portuguese grinder spoke with the PokerStars Blog a few weeks after the series and provided insight on his run and some amazing advice on how to crush big tournaments.

Paulius "D3cor" Vaitiekunas Eliminated in 6th Place ($28,897)

Level 41 : 350,000/700,000, 87,500 ante
Paulius Vaitiekunas
Paulius Vaitiekunas

Paulius "D3cor" Vaitiekunas raised to 1,400,000 from middle position and Patrick "Nelepo10" Ulysséa three-bet to 4,900,000 from the small blind.

Vaitiekunas four-bet to 16,450,000, almost all his chips, Ulysséa stuck the rest in and the Lithuanian called.

Paulius "D3cor" Vaitiekunas: {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
Patrick "Nelepo10" Ulysséa: {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}

Ulysséa had Vaitiekunas pipped with the jacks and no help appeared on a {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{4-Spades} board, making Vaitiekunas the fourth player in quick succession to leave the final table.

Two hands after "fpfeifer97"'s demise, the next player had to depart from the final table. It was Finland's "deadfizh" who ran out of chips. Patrick "Nelepo10" Ulysséa opened second to act with a min-raise to 1,400,000.

Next to him, "deadfizh" three-bet to 4,900,000, over half his stack, and action got back to Ulysséa. The Brazilian four-bet enough to put the Finn all in and the latter called it off.

"deadfizh": {a-Hearts}{j-Spades}
Patrick "Nelepo10" Ulysséa: {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}

If "deadfizh" was merely in trouble before the flop, he was basically completely dead after the {a-Spades}{k-Spades}{k-Clubs} flop landedt, leaving him drawing to the case ace to chop. The {4-Diamonds} turn and {7-Clubs} river completed the rundown and "deadfizh" departed in 7th for $20,599.

Directly after the "Boootsy" double, Michael "munchenHB Telker" got it in again and this time against short stack "fpfeifer97". It was a blind-on-blind confrontation where the Brazilian ripped it for 11 big blinds from the small blind and Telker calling him off.

"fpfeifer97": {k-Spades}{6-Spades}
Michael "munchenHB" Telker: {a-Clubs}{8-Hearts}

After the {7-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{4-Hearts} flop and {5-Spades} turn, "fpfeifer97" was looking at quite a few outs to save his tournament life but the {7-Diamonds} river wasn't one of them. His run ended in 8th place worth $14,683, plus a ticket to the $5,200 Grand Final.

Level 41 : 350,000/700,000, 87,500 ante

Manuel "fellatiado" Ruivo Eliminated in 9th Place ($10,467)

Level 40 : 300,000/600,000, 75,000 ante
Manuel Ruivo
Manuel Ruivo

The fireworks at the final table started right off the bat with a massive clash between Michael "munchenHB" Telker and Manuel "fellatiado" Ruivo. It was the latter who raised to 1,242,000 in middle position.

Telker three-bet to 4,500,000 from the small blind, Ruivo four-bet shoved all in for 23,597,484 and Telker snapped him off.

Manuel "fellatiado" Ruivo: {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}
Michael "munchenHB" Telker: {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}

A brutal setup for Ruivo left him in a deep hole and the {3-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{10-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{5-Hearts} board proved of no avail, ending his day with a single hand.
