Petrangelo the First Casualty

Level 2 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Nick Petrangelo
Nick Petrangelo

We got there on the flop, but Stephen Chidwick was kind enough to fill us in on the pre-flop details afterward.

Jean-Noel Thorel opened the hijack for 3,000 and his neighbor Stephen Chidwick three-bet to 9,000. Over on the button, Nick Petrangelo cold-four-bet to 26,000. Both blinds got out of the way, Thorel and Chidwick called to grow the pot considerably.

The flop came {4-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{9-Spades} and Thorel tanked for a bit. When his clock had run down, only then he realized it was on him and he bet 26,100. Chidwick folded instantly but Petrangelo shoved for 112,000 total. Thorel tanked for a bit, used a time bank chip, and eventually called.

Nick Petrangelo: {10-Spades}{Q-Spades}
Jean-Noel Thorel: {K-Clubs}{K-Hearts}

Thorel faded the spades with the {J-Clubs} on the turn and the {2-Diamonds} on the river. Petrangelo knocked out, Thorel in the lead.

Bonomo Gets Paid with Quads

Level 2 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Isaax Haxton raised to 3,000 from early position and picked up two callers with Timothy Adams on the button and Claas Segebrecht in the big blind. The flop of {K-Clubs}{K-Spades}{9-Spades} was checked through and Segebrecht then bet the {5-Hearts} turn for 8,000, which only Adams called. Both ended up checking the {8-Hearts} river and no showdown was needed, as Segebrecht mucked his cards and forfeited the pot.

Two tables over, a big pot was brewing between Justin Bonomo and Rainer Kempe. With plenty of chips already in the middle and the board showing {J-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}, Bonomo tossed in three green T-25,000 chips for a bet of 75,000 and Kempe used one time bank chip to give himself more consideration. Ultimately, Kempe called and Bonomo turned over {7-Spades}{7-Clubs} for quads and left Kempe with less than half the starting stack.

Smith Dominates Early Stages

Level 2 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

[Removed:17] raised from the button and picked up a call from Orpen Kisacikoglu in the big blind. On a flop of {A-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{7-Hearts}, Kisagikoclu check-called a continuation bet worth 4,000 and checked the {Q-Spades} on the turn. Yan's second barrel was worth 12,000 and Kisagikoclu folded.

One table over, there were some 14,000 in the pot with the turn showing {Q-Spades}{5-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{J-Spades}, and Stephen Chidwick checked his option in the big blind. Dan Smith bet 22,000 in the cutoff and Chidwick called. The {A-Diamonds} on the river completed the board and Chidwick checked again. Smith now fired hefty 123,000 and that forced a quick fold from Chidwick.

Luca bests Petrangelo

Level 1 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Picking up the action on the {J-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{7-Clubs} flop with around 8,000 in the middle, Nick Petrangelo checked in the big blind and Ivan Luca bet 5,000 from under the gun, which Petrangelo called. The {2-Hearts} fell on the turn and Petrangelo checked again. Luca made it 11,000 to go and Petrangelo called, before the {A-Hearts} river slowed down both players and they checked.

Petrangelo showed {Q-Clubs}{4-Clubs} for queen-high and a busted flush draw, while Luca claimed the pot with {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds} for a pair of kings.

Kempe Versus Aido

Level 1 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Action folded to Rainer Kempe on the button and he raised to 3,000. Big blind Sergio Aido called and both checked {K-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{7-Spades}.

The {A-Hearts} hit the turn and Aido bet out 4,200. Kempe called.

As the {K-Spades} hit the river, Aido bet out 20,000. Kempe thought about it for a bit. The dealer announced he had 7 seconds left to act on his hand and he fiddled with his time bank chips. Eventually, he tossed his cards into the muck.

Smith Takes from Greenwood

Level 1 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

On the button, a raise to 7,500 was in front of Sam Greenwood on the button and Dan Smith in the cutoff then four-bet to 20,000. Greenwood called and the duo headed to the {Q-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{4-Clubs} flop, which prompted Smith to bet 21,000. The time bank ran down to four seconds before Greenwood called and the {A-Diamonds} appeared on the turn.

Again it was Smith that bet, making it 22,000 to go, and Greenwood called. The {8-Clubs} on the river saw Smith check after his clock had run down to five seconds, and Greenwood checked behind. Smith turned over {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs} for the nut flush and scooped a big pot early on.

Choi Starts Well to Take from Petrangelo

Level 1 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

On a three-way flop of {A-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{2-Clubs}, Nick Petrangelo checked out of the small blind as did Timothy Adams in the big blind. Stanley Choi bet 2,500 and Petrangelo check-raised to 8,000. This got Adams out of the way, but Choi reraised to 27,500 and picked up a call by Petrangelo.

Both players then ended up checking down the {5-Hearts} turn and the {4-Diamonds} river. Petrangelo showed {A-Diamonds}{2-Spades} for flopped two pair that were counterfeited on the river, and Choi claimed the pot with {A-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for a busted nut flush draw and the better kicker.
