Boskovic Times Two

Level 4 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Dejan Boskovic was already in right from the start, and he just bought in again. Wait, no, it is in fact his son who happens to have the same name! And would you know, they even ended up on the same table as well.

Boskovic senior just paid off a bet by 15,000 of Nan Tu on a river showing {Q-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} and then mucked when Tu flashed the {9-Spades}{7-Spades} for a straight. Soon after, Tu raised to 4,500 and then folded when Boskovic senior made it 11,800 to go.

Hungjun Pays Off Luo

Level 3 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Zhao Hungjun had been on a heater early on and scooped massive pots to more than triple up his stack. That run was just somewhat halted, though Hungjun remains the early chip leader ahead of Sergio Aido, Dejan Boskovic and Artem Metalidi.

Joining the action on the {K-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{9-Clubs} flop, Hungjun checked in the big blind and Xiaoyang Luo bet 6,000. Hungjun check-raised to 15,000 and Luo called befre the duo checked the {9-Diamonds} turn. On the {A-Hearts} river, Hungjun checked again and Luo bet 35,000. After taking one time extension for an additional 30 seconds, Hungjun then tossed in a single chip for the call and mucked once Luo flashed {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds} for a full house.

Fatehi Out

Level 3 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Not a good day at the office for Ali Reza Fatehi
Not a good day at the office for Ali Reza Fatehi

Ali Reza Fatehi has not had a very good afternoon so far and it just got a whole lot worse. A recently arrived Fedor Holz opened the action in this particular hand with a raise to 4,000.

If Holz’ current tournament form is anything to go by he usually doubles in the first five minutes but this is not the case here – for a change.

Dan Smith mulls things over on the button before electing to re-raise to 12,500 in total and Fatehi, sitting in the small blind, moves the last of his chips in for an all-in bet of 34,200 in total.

Holz snap folded, to a groan and a cry of ‘nooooooo!’ from Smith who slaps {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds} face up on the table. Fathei tables {j-Diamonds}{j-Spades} and is in need of some help, which fails to arrive when the board runs out {4-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} {2-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}.

Amusingly, this brings a cry of ‘nooooooooo!’ from Holz, who told Smith he just folded {5-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}.

“There’s no way you call if I shove though, right?” quizzes Smith jokingly as he stacks up his newly won chips.

For Fatehi that brings his tournament to a close as that was already his second bullet and the Iranian retires to lick his wounds.

Li Takes from Adams

Level 3 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

It folded around to Timothy Adams on the button and he raised it up to 4,000, which prompted Juicy Li in the small blind to three-bet to 13,800. It folded back to Adams, and his shot clock ran down to five seconds before the Canadian tossed in the extra chips. On the {10-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} flop, Li continued for 11,000 and Adams eventually folded.

While Li moved back to more than the starting stack, Adams has around half of that left.

Another Wang Wins

Level 3 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Currently there are two Wangs in the field, Yang Wang and Chinqing Wang and it is the latter we are concerned with in this particular hand.

Sitting under-the-gun plus one Wang raised it up to 8,000 and action folded over to Sylvain Loosli in the big blind. The Frenchman shot Wang a suspicious stare and threw in the call bring the action heads-up to a {4-Spades}{k-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} flop.

Loosli checked and Wang reached for chips, counting out a bet of 12,500 before carefully sliding it into the center of the table. Loosli thought it over but not for too long and made the call.

The {9-Clubs} brought another check from Loosli, who is surreptitiously shooting sidelong stares at Wang, who checked it back.

The {2-Hearts} river is what is more commonly known in poker terminology as a blank, changing nothing and Loosli now opted to lead for 16,500.

Wang called quickly and while Loosli turned over {k-Spades}{q-Clubs} it was not enough to beat Wang’s {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds} and the Chinese player takes down the pot.

Troyanovskiy Eliminated and Re-Enters

Level 2 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Dejan Boskovic raised to 2,800 from the cutoff and Vladimir Troyanovskiy three-bet to 7,500 from one seat over on the button, which Boskovic called. On the {Q-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} flop, Boskovic check-called a bet worth 7,500 and then bet the {4-Hearts} turn for 17,500. Troyanovskiy called and the {A-Diamonds} fell on the river, which prompted Boskovic to check.

Troyanovskiy bet 55,000 with less than 2,000 behind, and Boskovic called after brief consideration. Troyanovskiy tabled {K-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for a busted straight and flush draw, while Boskovic had {8-Spades}{6-Clubs} for two pair.

Two hands later, Boskovic made it 2,700 to go and Troyanovskiy called all in for his last 1,200. Kazuhiko Yotsushika called on the cutoff and the flop fell {8-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}. Boskovic continued for 5,700 and Yotsushika folded. The Australian tabled {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs} and Troyanovskiy had {J-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}, the {6-Hearts} turn and {Q-Hearts} river let Troyanovskiy more than triple up. However, the very next hand, he sent the remaining few big blinds over to En Ning Chen and fired a second bullet.

There are already 41 entries for this Single-Day High Roller, which includes five re-entries thus far.

Wang Wins Without Showdown

Level 2 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Germany’s Oliver Weis made it 2,700 to go from under-the-gun and action folded around to Yang Wang in the small blind. Wang looked interested and tossed in the call, pricing in big blind Jack Salter who also came along for the ride.

The {4-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{7-Clubs} flop brought checks from both Wang and Salter and needing no further prompting Weis continuation bet 4,500.

Wang waivers between folding and calling and eventually opted for the latter, tossing in a single yellow 5k chip. Salter seemed content to continue tagging along and also called.

The {10-Diamonds} paired the board and brought a very quick bet of 13,500 from Wang. Salter folded instantly, and while he took slightly longer about it, eventually so did Weis.
