Action was caught on the river with 6,500 in the middle on the J?3?6?9?4? board.

Humberto Lopes Galindo bet big, sizing up to 9,500 from early position. Ronnie Abro called from the hijack but instantly mucked as Galindo tabled A?J?.

A few hands later, the rest of Abro's stack went to Galindo, who has had a hot start to Day 1c.

Galindo has found Mystery Bounty success before, winning the €3,000 Mystery Bounty at the 2023 PokerStars European Poker Tour Paris for €258,656.

Don't Miss Out on the 2023 PokerNews Cup - Final Starting Flight Begins at 11 AM

2023 PokerNews Cup
2023 PokerNews Cup

The Golden Nugget is the place to be today in Las Vegas, as the third and final starting flight of the 2023 $1,100 PokerNews Cup kicks off at 11 a.m. local time.

The past two days have defied all expectations, with swathes of players taking their shot at tournament glory. There has been a fantastic atmosphere with the field made up of all types of poker players.

Legends of the game like Brian Hastings and Brian Altman have been in attendance, along with other luminaries such as Angela Jordison, Michael Wang and Marle Spragg.

Also in the mix have been a host of weekend warriors and home game heroes who have been able to keep up with the grinders.

The 1,316 entries that were tallied over Day 1a and 1b already make this the biggest PokerNews Cup ever, besting last year's 1,245. And obviously, with a larger field comes a larger prize pool, which currently stands at $1,276,520.

As this is a Mystery Bounty event, 60% of the prize pool will make up the regular prize pool, while the remainder will be allotted to Mystery Bounty prizes.

The Mystery Bounty element comes into play on Day 2, which gets underway on Sunday, July 2, at 12 p.m.

Gimbel Bubbles Day 1b

Yesterday's action saw 812 entries, an increase over Day 1a's 504. Forrest Kollar bagged best out of the 102 advancing players. He ended the night with 695,000, just a few chips ahead of Norman Michalek (679,000).

Those who navigated over the first hurdle will join the 63 players who made it through on Day 1a.

Triple Crown winner Harrison Gimbel was the player to burst the bubble after his pocket kings were outflopped by Agustin Naranja's ace-queen.

But not all hope is lost as Gimbel and anyone else over the age of 21, have one final chance to book their spot into the next stage.

Starting Flight Details

For the $1,100 buy-in, players will receive a 30,000 stack. To make it through to Day 2, entrants must finish in the final 12.5% of the Day 1 field.

There will be a 15-minute break after every three levels, with a 60-minute dinner break scheduled after Level 9. All levels until the final table will have a 40-minute duration.

Late registration closes upon the start of Level 13, which will be around 9 p.m. local time.

If a player entered any previous starting flight and has been eliminated from the tournament, they may register for today's final flight.

Players should note that seating may be limited for this event.

A player who advances to Day 2 is prohibited from entering a subsequent starting flight. A player that has advanced to Day 2 who enters another starting flight in error will be disqualified from the subsequent flight and will not be entitled to a refund of their second tournament buy-in. The player will be permitted to play Day 2 with their tournament chip stack from their original starting flight.
