Gorr Doubles Through Sukkar; Commandeers Chip Lead

David Gorr - Your new chip leader
David Gorr - Your new chip leader
David Gorr has just won the biggest pot of the tournament thus far, having doubled through former chip leader Ray Sukkar.

Gorr opened the hand with a raise to 70,000 from late position. Sukkar made the call from the big blind.

The flop came {4-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} and both players checked, opting to see a free turn: {6-Hearts}. Sukkar slid a single stack of yellow 5,000 chips into the middle -- a bet worth 100,000 -- and Gorr responded by moving all in (767,000).

Sukkar tanked for quite some time, all the while standing behind his chips and examining his stack. Eventually Sukkar made the call and tabled a pocket pair of nines; Gorr revealed {8-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} for a set and was miles ahead.

Despite a few cries from the rail for a nine, the river delivered the {K-Spades} and Gorr successfully doubled through to 1,690,000 in chips. Sukkar was left with 1,170,000 -- a stack formidable enough that any of the 11 remaining players would be happy to own.
