Boyd Nears Chip Lead As Bubble Approaches

Level 15 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

James Boyd opened the action under the gun with a raise to 17,500. The player in the cutoff slid his 42,500 stack into the middle and Boyd made the call.

Boyd: {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}
Opponent: {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}

Boyd needed to fade an ace as they went to the flop which came {5-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{q-Clubs}. Boyd had a lock on the hand after he flopped top set. The {7-Hearts} and {4-Hearts} completed the board and Boyd increased his stack to 100,000.

Chief Flops the Straight

Level 15 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Mark Prystupa was in middle position when he elected to shove his remaining 22,000 chips. Action folded to Codey Chief in the small blind and after a few seconds in the tank, he called with a bigger stack. The big blind got out of the way, and Prystupa had Chief dominated with {a-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} vs the {q-Hearts}{j-Hearts} of Chief.

That all changed on the {10-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{9-Spades} flop, giving Chief the stones and the {k-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} turn and river couldn't save Prsytupa.

Prystupa Flushes Chief

Level 14 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Action folded to Codey Chief in late-middle position, and he elected to shove. It folded around to Mark Prystupa on the big blind, and after a few seconds of thought, he decided to make the call.

Prystupa was marginally behind with {k-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} against the {a-Hearts}{8-Hearts} of Chief, but Prystupa turned the diamond flush on the {j-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{6-Spades} board to collect a double.

Boyd Saved By The River

Level 14 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Action folded to the player in the hijack who moved all in for his last 37,000. Andrew de la Salle made the call on the button and James Boyd put in his last 20,000 from the small blind. The three players turned their cards over and were off to the races.

Hijack: {a-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}
de la Salle: {a-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}
Boyd: {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}

The flop of {6-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{5-Spades} put de la Salle into the lead but gave Boyd a flush draw.

The {q-Diamonds} gave Boyd another three outs heading to the river. The {5-Clubs} improved Boyd to the nut flush and he pulled in the 68,000 chip main pot to stay alive.

Prystupa's Kings Hold for a Double

Level 14 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Action folded to Mark Prystupa on the button and he shoved for his last 3,000. Anthony Imperial in the small blind completed and the big blind checked her option.

Both blinds checked through the entire board, but when Prystupa rolled over pocket kings, the blinds mucked their hands.

Nguyen Catches The Turn

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Khai Nguyen closed the action preflop with a call from the big blind after a player in middle position raised to 6,000 and the button called.

The {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{4-Spades} flop saw Nguyen check-call a bet of 13,500 from the original raiser.

The players went heads-up to the turn which was the {9-Spades}. Nguyen checked it over to his opponent who moved all in, Nguyen quickly called for his remaining 27,500.

Nguyen: {q-Diamonds}{10-Spades}
Opponent: {k-Clubs}{j-Spades}

Nguyen's turned straight left his opponent with just 4 outs going to the river. The {4-Diamonds} completed the board and Nguyen secured the massive double up.

An Imperial Win

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Anthony Imperial opened from middle position by pushing his stack of about 30,000 into the middle. Action folded to Maurice Gingras in the small blind and he reshoved with the smaller stack.

"Please let this be aces," said big blind Codey Chief as he squeezed his cards, then open-mucked his {2-}{7-}, closing the action and setting Imperial's {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} against the {a-}{10-} over cards of Gingras. It was ostensibly a race, until the dealer dropped {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}{q-Spades} onto the felt for the flop, and Gingras was already collecting his things after suffering death by flopped quads.
