Sammartino in Trouble After Maimone Calls Him Down

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Nick Maimone limped under the gun and Dario Sammartino raised it up to 110,000, after which the other players folded. Maimone called, creating heads up action on the flop.

The flop brought out {A-Clubs}{J-Spades}{9-Hearts} and Maimone check-called 115,000, after which the turn was the {10-Spades}.

Maimone checked again on the turn and Sammartino fired out another 245,000. Maimone tanked for quite a bit before calling, but eventually he did.

The river was the {8-Clubs} and this time both players checked, and Maimone raked in the pot after showing {A-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}.

Beckley Vaults Into the Chip Lead

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Josh Beckley opened for 110,000 under the gun and received a call from Dario Sammartino in the hijack. Andrey Zaichenko then called from the small blind, Nick Maimone did the same from the big, and four players took a flop of {4-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}.

Two checks saw Beckley continue for 175,000, only Maimone called, and then both players checked the {J-Diamonds} turn. When the {9-Diamonds} completed the board on the river, Maimone checked and then tank-called a bet of 300,000 from Beckley.

Beckley tabled the {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts}, and it was good as Maimone sent his cards to the muck.

Zaichenko's Bluff Fails

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Sean Winter raised from the button and Andrey Zaichenko called from the big blind. The flop brought out {3-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} and Zaichenko check-called a bet of 65,000.

The turn was the {3-Diamonds} and Zaichenko lead out for 50,000, and Winter made the call.

On the turn the {K-Hearts} hit and Zaichenko lead out for 200,000.

"Quads?" Winter asked Zaichenko, before making the call.

Winter showed {A-Hearts}{J-Hearts} and Zaichenko mucked his cards, giving up a sizeable pot to his opponent.

Beckley Shoves on Maimone

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Nick Maimone raised to 95,000 from middle position only to have Josh Beckley three-bet to 245,000 from the hijack. Action folded back to Maimone, and he called to see a {10-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{k-Hearts} flop.

Maimone check-called a bet of 275,000 and then checked the {6-Spades} turn. Beckely moved all in for 825,000, and Maimone thought for over a minute before releasing his hand.

More For More Maimone, Beckley Sliding

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Josh Beckley started the day as the chip leader, but right now it's all Nick Maimone at the final table. Maimone just raised to 70,000 and Beckley three-bet from his direct left to 220,000.

The action folded back around to Maimone, and he made the call.

The flop brought out {K-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{8-Hearts} and Maimone check-called a bet of 175,000. The turn brought the {10-Clubs} and both players checked.

The river was the {K-Clubs} and again the action was checked. Maimone tabled {J-Spades}{J-Hearts} and he took down another pot.

Anton Astapau Eliminated in 9th Place ($116,640)

Anton Astapau

Anton Astapau, the shortest stack at the table, just moved all in under the gun plus one for 475,000 chips, and Dario Sammartino was next to act. After a while Sammartino called, and the action folded to Nick Maimone on the button.

Maimone did some thinking as well, before moving all in for 1,080,000. Both blinds folded right away, and Sammartino went into the tank.

"Sick," Sammartino said, as he shook his head.

"You don't have ace-king," Sammartino sighed, as he looked at Maimone.

Five minutes went by before Chance Kornuth called the clock, and in the dying seconds the Italian pro slammed in the call.

Maimone: {J-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}
Anton Astapau: {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}
Sammartino: {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}

The board ran out {Q-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds} and Maimone scored not only a knock out, but also a full double up through Sammartino. Maimone is now the chip leader as the tournament goes on its first break of the day.

Zaichenko Rivers Straight

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante

Andrey Zaichenko raised to 65,000 under the gun and action folded all the way to Brian Yoon, who defended from the big blind. The {2-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} flop saw Yoon check-call a bet of 78,000, and then both players checked the {3-Hearts} turn.

When the {10-Clubs} completed the board on the river, Yoon led out for 125,000 and Zaichenko snap-called. Yoon showed his cards, but unfortunately we didn't get a good look. What we do know is that he mucked them when Zaichenko tabled the {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts} for a straight.
