$215 Main Event NLH ($50K GTD)
Day 1 Completed
On Sunday, the latest partypoker US Network Online Series wrapped up with the conclusion of its 11-event schedule which included the $215 buy-in, $50K GTD NLH 6-Max Main Event. After eight and a half hours of play in that tournament, it was "pure_reason" walking away with the title and $18,795 top prize.
The tournament started with 228 registered players and that number steadily increased until the 537 total entries became official.
The $50K guarantee was completely smashed as the 537-entry field generated a $107,400 prize pool, meaning the top 72 finishers got a piece of the pie.
After registration closed, the virtual bodies quickly disappeared and a few short levels later, "dime8644" was eliminated on the bubble by "thekid32", leaving the remaining players in the money.
From there, players started dropping by the wayside as Matthew "gailums" Gailums (72nd - $343.68), Ross “thehebrewhammer” Gottleib (55th - $365.16), John "Slapshot1085" Forlenza (55th - $386.64), Dan "mj23style" Sewnig (33rd - $547.74), Derek "pompii" Sudell (21st - $741.06), Don "dhimp20" Himeple (16th - $1,031.04), and Adam "jchimpo56" Karten (12th - $1,718.40), all got a piece of the pie but fell short of the making final table.
Place | Player | Winnings |
---|---|---|
1 | "pure_reason" | $18,795 |
2 | "BigDickRick" | $13,392.78 |
3 | "TYdonkman" | $9,343.80 |
4 | "Rikishi" | $7,464.30 |
5 | "Eclypze" | $6,229.20 |
6 | Ryan “simlSgg” Hagerty | $5,155.20 |
7 | Brian “TopCreature” Sherrier | $4,081.20 |
8 | "JefBlue" | $3,114.60 |
9 | "jerseyman99" | $2,225.40 |
The final table featured some familiar players with Ryan “simlSgg” Hagerty sitting third in chips while Event #9 champ Brian “TopCreature” Sherrier sat second to the bottom.
The first two eliminations happened quickly as "jerseyman99" was the first final table causality with "JefBlue" falling shortly after. The very next level saw two more virtual bodies drop after Sherrier jammed into "pure_reason's" aces, while Hagerty fell next in sixth place. "Eclypze" was next to hit the rail after they jammed their pocket sixes into the pocket queens of "TYdonkman".
Next up on the chopping block was "Rikishi", who got their money in good holding ace-three suited against "BigDickRick" holding a suited jack-four. It was a good spot for "Rikishi" until "BigDickRick" flopped two pair to send them home in fourth place.
Three-handed action saw chips shuffle around for two full levels before "TYdonkman" fell holding king-jack against "BigDickRick's" ace-six offsuit.
Once the heads-up battle started, "pure_reason" was looking to make quick work of "BigDickRick" as they held more than 90% of the chips in play, but after a few double-ups, "BigDickRick" turned the tides and took the chip lead.
The tussle continued for a full level until "BigDickRick" got their remaining chips in the middle holding ace-five of diamonds and was snap-called by "pure_reason" holding ace-queen of hearts. "BigDickRick" couldn't find lady luck and finished runner-up.

Last month, the World Poker Tour (WPT) announced its first U.S.-based online Main Tour event, the $3,500 WPT Online Poker Open Main Event, set for a late December running in New Jersey. That one will also carry a guarantee of $1 million.
The WPT Online Poker Open Main Event will be held Dec. 27-29 on partypoker US Network for players in New Jersey.
The ambitious $1 million guarantee signifies how serious the WPT and partypoker are about making this a premier poker tournament worthy of the WPT name.
“The WPT Online Poker Open brings the most prestigious prize in poker to New Jersey and the partypoker US Network,” said WPT CEO Adam Pliska in a presser. “WPT’s continued pivot toward online will continue with another landmark for regulated online poker in the United States.”
Indeed, the WPT has pivoted into a strong series of online offerings, however, all were offered to the dot-com partypoker player pool, a much larger bunch of customers than the prospective New Jersey pool. Drawing the necessary entries to meet the guarantee will require some effort, and the WPT already announced satellites will be available for as little as $5.
