Congratulations to Brian “TopCreature” Sherrier, Winner of $215 Event #1: $50K GTD Sunday Special for $10,080
The first champion of this partypoker US Online Series has now been crowned as Event #1: $50K GTD Sunday Special NLH has now come to a close. A total of 252 showed up for the opening event and when the last chance saloon had closed for business it was Brian “TopCreature” Sherrier reigning supreme, taking home $10,080 for his victory.
Sherrier is no stranger to the partypoker US Online Series, having already won the June main event after topping a 317 player field to secure $21,540 for his victory. He added another five-figure victory to his resume today in the opening event of this series after just under ten hours of play and is surely someone to look out for in the upcoming events.
An aggressive Sherrier took over the final table, with only a few minor setbacks en route to the winner's circle. The biggest of which was when "Dorgilina" shoved with ace-jack during four-handed play and Sherrier snapped with ace-king. "Dorgilina" flopped two and Sherrier failed to catch-up, sending the lead to "Dorgilina". Sherrier stuck to his guns and quickly clawed back into the action, ultimately gaining enough traction to run over the table after enduring that one bad beat to secure the win.

Action of the Day
The highly anticipated partypoker US Online Series saw a total of 252 registration buttons hit by the end of late registration, barely squeaking by the $50,000 guarantee that was set. A total of 36 were set to receive a min-cash and some players to do so but miss the final table include Vinny “brownmagic” Pahuja, Michael “IIIIIIIIIIIII” Haberman, Jason "Riverman" Lawhun, Chris “rumpthumper” White, and Ryan “simlSgg” Hagerty.
It took just two hours for the final 36 to whittle down to just eight, forming the official final table where "Dorgilina" was in the driver's seat. Drew "maniacalmonk" O'Connell was the first to take an exit when he shoved pocket sevens and Sherrier called with ace-queen. The race went in the favor of Sherrier who ended with two pair, sending O'Connell out in eighth place. Early in the day chip leader "packers467" check-shoved with a flopped pair of jacks and was snap-called by the flopped set of johnnies held by Wigler13", sending "packers467" out in seventh.
Sherrier jumped back into the action when Eric “alwaysliquid” Vanauken shoved his short stack into the middle with the dead man's hand and Sherrier snapped, holding seven-deuce. A duck hit the flop and Vanauken failed to connect on the runout, heading out the door. "ashylarry" shoved from under the gun with ace-jack in the very next hand and "Wigler13" was the only player to jump in on the action, holding a pair of nickels. The board ran out clean and the pocket fives of "Wigler13" scooped the pot, eliminating "ashylarry" from the tournament.
"chen718" saw their stack diminish down to just a few big blinds when they shoved and two players called. Sherrier and "Dorgilina" jumped in to see the flop where both players checked. Sherrier bet, "Dorgilina" folded and Sherrier showed top pair. "chen718" had air and the river failed to help, sending them out the door in fourth place. "Dorgilina" was next on the chopping block, putting their stack in with jack-six and Sherrier called with his king-two. Neither hit anything and Sherrier scooped with his king-high, setting up the heads-up play.
The final two battle for just a short period of time in what was a one-sided affair. Sherrier seemed to win every pot, applying an immense amount of pressure with his bets until finally "Wigler13" pushed with their king-jack, only to run into the ace-jack of Sherrier. Nothing fell on the board to change the lead and Sherrier scooped the pot, eliminating "Wigler13" in second place for a respectable $6,638.
