Hands #17-22: Melnikov Doubles in Last Hand Before the Break

Level 36 : 1,200,000/2,500,000, 2,500,000 ante
Alexey Melnikov
Alexey Melnikov

Hand #17: Alexey Melnikov raised to 6.2 million with the {A-Spades}{J-Diamonds} in the cutoff and Gor Kazaryan in the big blind defended the {A-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} in the big blind. On the {K-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{J-Hearts} flop, Kazaryan quickly checked and the {3-Diamonds} on the turn was also checked by both players.

The {3-Hearts} river gave Kazaryan back door trips and he bet 6.5 million. Melnikov used a time bank extension and sent his cards into the muck eventually.

Hand #18: Anatoly Filatov raised the {A-Hearts}{6-Spades} in the cutoff for 5.3 million and Andrey Malyshev in the big blind called with {7-Spades}{7-Hearts}. The flop came {Q-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} and both players opted to check, which brought the {K-Diamonds} on the turn.

Malyshev checked once more and Filatov bet 3.5 million and Malyshev folded.

Hand #19: Melnikov raised the {A-Hearts}{J-Spades} to 6 million and Mikhail Galitskiy called from the big blind with {A-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}. On the {7-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{5-Clubs} flop, Galitskiy checked and called a bet of 4 million to turn top two pair with the {A-Spades}. Again both players checked, however, and the {8-Hearts} came on the river.

Galitskiy used one time bank extension and then bet 13 million, Melnikov folded.

Hand #20: Melnikov raised to 6 million from under the gun with {K-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} and Filatov three-bet to 14.5 million with {Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs} from one seat over. Chip leader Viktor Khodorenko in the big blind gave it some thought and folded the {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}, and Melnikov came to the same conclusion.

Hand #21: Galitskiy raised on the button for 5.5 million with {A-Spades}{7-Clubs} and Melnikov filled up from the big blind with {7-Hearts}{6-Clubs}. The flop came the {A-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{2-Hearts} and a bet of 3.5 million won the pot for Galitskiy.

Hand #22: Malyshev raised to 6 million with {A-Spades}{Q-Spades} in the hijack and Melnikov shoved for 67 million with the {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs} out of the small blind. Malyshev used one time bank and called.

The board came {8-Spades}{3-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} and Melnikov doubled in the very last hand of the level, the players then headed into a 20-minute break.
