Opa!

A fifth seat at the final table has just been determined. On the back table, Outer Table 4, Team Greece and Team China were the last two teams standing. Team Greece puts its first stack at the final table, while Team China will now start with a double stack.

There are still two tables in action. At the outer table, Team China and Team Greece are battling with Team Brazil, each trying to add to their final-table chip stack. At the feature table, the last Team USA stack is being played by Phil Hellmuth. He's against Team Vietnam's Men Nguyen and Team Greece's Georgios Kapalas. It's do or die time for Team USA.

Team England - They Gone

Team England's hopes of a final table run have been vanquished. Ben Roberts, playing the last surviving Team England stack, was just eliminated at the hands of Johnny Chan.

Chan, holding king-three, hit two pair on the flop of {k-}{3-}{6-}. Ben Roberts who held {a-}{7-} was drawing dead by the turn and Team England was eliminated from the competition.

The elimination of Team England from the feature table means that Team China and Team Vietnam will both advance to the final table, where they will join Team Australia and Team Brazil. Three other first-round tables are still playing.

Outer Table 2 the First to Finish

I wish I could tell you what just happened on Outer Table 2. On the last hand of Pot-Limit Omaha, Team USA was all in against Team Brazil. We didn't catch the cards or the board, but Team Brazil was crowded around their man, Leandro "Brasa" Pimentel, for the river. They shouted triumphantly when it hit, with Pimentel thrusting a fist in the air and shouting, "BRAZIL!" Team USA, represented by Howard Lederer, shook hands with Team Brazil and retired to the rail.

The elimination of Team USA from Outer Table 2 brought that table down to just two teams: Brazil and, improbably, Australia! Australia is through to the final table after 4/5 of the team was eliminated in early play.

Tony G Shows Emotion

Wow. Team Australia, represented by co-captain Tony G, is going crazy on Outer Table 2. "Yeah baby! Yes!" said the G, bouncing out of his chair. He started slapping high fives. But apparently he chopped the pot with Team USA.

"I don't even care!" said the G. "I'm just happy I won. I'm happy I made the nuts!" So is all of Australia -- their hopes are still alive.

Vamooooo!

Things are down to a couple of players on each table now. On Outer Table 3 there are only three teams left: Brazil, Greece and China. Still in the PLO round, Team Greece tried to take out Team Brazil but Team Brazil turned the second-nut flush to stay alive.

En-guh-land!

Ben Roberts kept Team England's hopes alive at the feature table. He and Team Vietnam's Kido Pham were all in on a flop of {A-Spades} {Q-Spades} {8-Diamonds}. Roberts, the at-risk player, showed a combination draw with {K-Spades} {6-Spades} {j-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds}. Pham didn't have much with {3-} {4-} {5-} {6-}. Pham actually turned the best hand with the {4-Diamonds}, but Roberts had seemingly the world to hit on the river. He would win with any diamond, any spade, any 10, any 7, any king or any jack. The river was a diamond, giving Roberts a running flush in diamonds to double up.

One for the Queen

Dave "Devilfish" Ulliot from Team England was all in against Team Greece.

Greece: {a-Hearts}{7-Spades}{10-Spades}{8-Diamonds}
England: {k-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}

The flop came down {3-}{5-}{q-} and England was in the lead. The {3-Spades} fell on the turn and the {k-Hearts} on the river gave England the double up.

Team Israel Busto

Team Australia has been very stressed the last few hours.
Team Australia has been very stressed the last few hours.

That collective sigh you might have just heard came from the entire continent of Australia. Why? Because Australia has been assured of not being the first country eliminated from this tournament.

Team Israel seemed well-position to place at least one player to the final table, but in the span of twenty minutes each of their remaining three players busted. David Benyamine, playing on Outer Table 4, got the team's last chips in against the intimidating stack of Team China's Chau Giang. Team Israel was unable to get there and has been completely eliminated from contention.
