Negreanu Pushes Safina Out
The flop came down and Negreanu was first up. He bet 42,000 and Safina called.
The turn was the and Negreanu checked. Safina bet 50,000 and then Negreanu went into the tank. He raised to 120,000 on a total bluff and Phil Laak loved the play from the commentary booth.
"This is why I don't have $18 million in tournament winnings," said Laak about Negreanu. Although Negreanu doesn't have that much, he does sit second behind only Phil Ivey on the all-time money list from tournaments.
Safina folded after tanking and Luke Schwartz asked Negreanu if he had a jack.
"Of course I had a jack, what you think I'm going to check-raise without a jack? You think I'm one of those internet kids or something?" Negreanu responded.
