Santiago Nadal Eliminated in 8th Place ($35,327)

Level 24 : 15,000/30,000, 3,000 ante
Santiago Nadal - 8th place
Santiago Nadal - 8th place

Santiago Nadal put in a standard raise only to be reraised to 205,000 from Victor Ramdin in the small blind. When the big blind folded, Nadal moved all in for 898,000 and Ramdin made the call.

Ramdin: {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}
Nadal: {J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}

It was a classic race for Nadal's tournament life and things were looking good when the flop came down {6-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}. That all changed when the {A-Spades} spiked on the turn, sending gasps of disbelief through the crowd. The {7-Diamonds} on the river changed nothing and Nadal was eliminated from The Big Event in eighth place. Ramdin is up to 2.6 million.

Ausmus Ahead, Behind, Ahead

Level 23 : 12,000/24,000, 2,000 ante

Taylor von Kriegenbergh opened with a raise from the cutoff seat with {K-Diamonds} {9-Spades}, and Jeremy Ausmus defended his big blind with {A-Clubs} {9-Clubs}.

Von Kriegenbergh out-flopped the big stack as the dealer spread out {2-Hearts} {K-Clubs} {6-Clubs}, but Ausmus did now have four clubs. Both players checked. The turn came the {3-Spades}, and now Ausmus took the lead with a bet of 67,000. Von Kriegenbergh quickly called, and he snapped another 133,000 when the {A-Hearts} landed on the river. When he made the last call, Ausmus turned up his {A-Clubs} {9-Clubs} to show that he'd run down the pot.

Another Double for Metaal

Level 23 : 12,000/24,000, 2,000 ante

Action folded to Victor Ramdin in the cutoff and he raised to 58,000. Govert Metaal was next to act on the button and he moved all in for 210,000 more. Ramdin gave it some thought and decided to make the call.

Ramdi: {J-Hearts}{7-Spades}
Metaal: {K-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}

The {10-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{K-Hearts} flop was kind to Metaal but Ramdin picked up a straight draw. The {5-Hearts} turn changed nothing and neither did the {6-Diamonds} river. Just like that, the short stack at the start of the day was up to about 550,000.

Hachem Turns Two

Level 23 : 12,000/24,000, 2,000 ante

In early position, Victor Ramdin opened to 52,000, and Joe Hachem defended his big blind with a call. Both players let the cameras peek at their cards, and it was Ramdin's {A-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} with a small lead over Hachem's {10-Hearts} {J-Hearts}.

The two men both flopped pairs as the dealer spread out {5-Hearts} {Q-Clubs} {J-Diamonds}. Hachem checked, then called a bet of what looked like 92,000 from Ramdin. That led them to the {10-Diamonds} turn, a good card for Hachem. With two pair, he fired out a cool 200,000, and Ramdin flatted with his top pair now trailing. The {2-Diamonds} on the river drew checks from both players, and Hachem's two pair gives him the pot to move dangerously close to 2 million.
